Best LIV event since conception, crowds were immense.

LIV is going nowhere and I hope they continue to grow and add new events like this weekend!
The low standard of the field just cant be overlooked, no matter the amplitude of the razzmatazz. Regions, or golf developing countries, may lap up this type of circus. Sound and fury, signifying nothing sort of thing. Australia usually prides itself on being a serious and discerning sporting nation, so surprised they lapped up this confection. Or maybe they were just lapping the tinnies ?

Without any notable success, and now they're a sub-branch of the PGA Tour.

In what way is there no “notable success”

Golf Sixes went down well when it was played , seemed to have relatively the same size crowds at Centurion as the LIV event did , lots of kids there

The Made in Denmark does well

Why bring in the PGAT “again” , it’s almost as if it’s a stock reply.

I've never heard of this Bert guy, but with a million followers on twitter - he's obviously somebody

"It's all the cool players"

And it is....
I've really got into how LIV has exposed the personalities of these players, plenty of them who I had no time for pre LIV, I now find myself being drawn to them - Bubba, Bryson, even Patrick Reed - the guy is cheesier than the cheesiest cheese, but they do get a lot of time to portray their personalities now.

Pretty sure you used golf sixes as a reason why LIV was destined to failure earlier in this very thread Phil. ;-)

When it comes to team golf yes - people weren’t interested in team aspect but enjoyed seeing the likes of Hull and Fleetwood when the UK didn’t have any events outside the majors

So is Pepperall right then - the ET do a lot of various events - Hero challenges , 14 club challenge - and is it not poor to see the likes of Bland slate the tour when as Pepperall said it’s the tour that made Bland and the only he could play on.

I guess it’s part of their contracts now to attack all the tours and players playing on that tour - there was another post from Canter later going on about imitation being flattery - guess he is a bit too daft to see the irony

Not seen much talk about the actual golf at the event this week ? Who won ? Did Cooch walk it.

10 shot lead going into the final round and ended up winning by 2 I think (may have been 3)

Yeah Gooch won it, had a wobble but got his composure back to see it out.
If you aren't into LIV, then I wouldn't expect you to be up to speed with the timeline of the rounds given they were in the early hours.
Likewise, I don't even know where the Chevron has been played this weekend.

This thread cracks me up. For those so clearly put out by LIV golf, why continue the self flagellation after 10,000 posts 😂.

Personally, I couldn’t give a monkeys about LIV either way, but it seems obvious that it’s introduction has benefited those on the PGA Tour (PIP, designated events) whilst getting some journeymen a massive payday towards the end of their careers. Good luck to all of them.

I actually should have said the Zurich Classic, but there’s been so little said about it the Chevron was the first thing that came to mind when I was typing out that post.
Rightly so. The Zurich is a team thing. Interest just isnt in them. Chevron is where its at this weekend. Great contest in progress. Primetime viewing.

(edit - fwiw, I thought RB's comments were a little out of order to Pepperell - he's been pretty honest about the failings of the DPWT recently and the frustrations that the player are feeling)
Which is better than being a sub-branch of the Aisian Tour 😉

It’s quite sad seeing these ex tour players suddenly slagging off the tours that gave them millions. Funny how none of them had anything bad to say before, or came forward (that we know of) with any ideas to improve the product.

Is that what a scouser says when he wakes up to find a LIV event down under has been a huge success? :ROFLMAO:
I thought you’d know…haven’t you deep dived into the LIV players CVs?
You must know Westwood won there back in the day!

This is spot on, all these pro golfers do it for a living, most will go for the opportunity to earn more money, some are happy plugging away where their at, this happens in every job.
We might look at it differently from our own work but the reality is the same in my opinion.
Clearly the sums of money involved are more than most can dream off and takes away some of the thought process depending where they are in life. (Family/kids) etc.
I’ve always looked at these things as work, although it’s probably the dream job for most 😀

That’s because most of them left the ET to go to the PGAT to earn their millions

None of them gave two hoots about the ET and every single one of them jumped at any chance to get a PGAT card

They all slate the ET but the players that jumped like Poulter , Casey etc helped cause the issues

Most of the top echelon didnt though, and that is what LIV targeted. Most turned down the more money. So clearly something much stronger at play, and that seems to be the element that LIV completely misjudged - they did think they would have a PGAT rival or beating tour. Instead, the massive payday for journeymen at the end of their careers is is dominant characteristic.
