Have to say I don’t really understand why Tommy Fleetwood and other non- winners are playing. Takes a little away from the unique prestige and character of the event.
It's not the Tournament of Champions any more, it's just The Sentry and qualifying criteria is I believe anyone who was in last year's top 50 on the PGA Tour, alternatively it may be those who made East Lake plus last year's champions. Something like that.

I believe it changed last year, too many entrants found other things to do.

Edit. It's top 50 and champions.

It’s still for last year’s tournament winners. But the PGA tour has expanded the field for several “elite” events to include the top 50. It’s in response to the Saudi Tour.

Whilst I’m not a huge of Pelly and what’s happened with the ET - there has been a lot of improvements with events

When he came in 2014 the Tour wasn’t in a great place , any stars coming through was from the US system , players were looking to go there asap and events were struggling to get prize money

A number of events were restarted like the British Masters , events like the PGA and Scottish Open have hugely improved but a tour is only as good as the sponsers it can attract to bring the players in and for years before he arrived the ET was struggling badly and was already a feeder tour so I don’t think the blame should be lumped fully on Pelly.

In 2014 - what would have anyone done differently to try and get it more competitive

The Rolex events have been a success , been a lot of good partnerships with other tours around the world and it’s now the one true global tour

Definitely a marmite character and I think the tour is in a better place than when he took over although how LIV impacts going forward is going to be an interesting dynamic. The number of players still playing predominantly on the ET that featured (or were on the fringes) of the RC show that we are still producing some excellent players through the tour
