This -Can just tell Ionas new series on the basics of the golf swing will be excellent. Good first episode and would be a great grounding video for someone struggling and looking to reset imo.

Curious as to how Wesley is playing in the liv duel thing, when he’s still playing on the pga tour? George also plays on it too I think.Still can’t get away with that kid like find him a bit of a charisma vacuum very American anchor vibes
Hell of a looking swing though and superb bunker player too from what I’ve seen on the major cut series with the Bryan bros
Shout out to Wesley Bryan he’s excellent in front of the camera and you can see why he made it to the top tour absolute dog in him

and talking about the history. Something different to watching a YouTuber trying to out banter a pro!!
I think sadly with golf there is only such much content you can do. Unless people start doing more "course guide" type things and showcase the actual course I agree and it is just watching somebody (of varying skill) hit a ball around a field or discuss what clubs are best to do so. Some of the tuition is still very good (Grieve, Crossfield, Maude etc) who keep it very simple and usually a nugget or twoBeen watching various channels over the last few years and I wonder when the bubble will burst for some of the channels? Looked through my YouTube feed today and struggled to pick a video that was a little different to the norm as it's all got a samey.
I like Golf life because of the ex sport stars plus stories but hate the pick a set of clubs videos, certain channels are so repetitive, banter type golf and rather dull and some of the Americans are super annoying whilst obviously starting to to believe their own hype.
It's all personal taste, obviously, but I'd love to see more interviews similar to the 19th uncut or playing courses and talking about the history. Something different to watching a YouTuber trying to out banter a pro!!
The thing I like about Grieve is a) he has a method and sticks to it and I've found if something hasn't clicked watching him on one video often clicks watching it with another and b) he does have some interesting guests on.I do think most of the instructional stuff is so similar these days. Someone puts up a video on a particular theme or technique, and within a week there are 3 or 4 others doing exactly the same tuition.
The "average golfer channel " has even gone further and made a series trying out these tips from other pros.
I still rate Porzak Golf as one of the best tuition channels, along with Dan Grieve, although even his videos are repetitive with a new celebrity each week learning the 3 releases for short game. However, he is so good that I do take note of his instruction.
I pointed this out before, way back in this thread. I found two videos, posted by Maude and Finch, which were pretty much identical, even down to the thumbnail image they used. To be fair he is a bit good around the greens. I guess if that is all you are really working on every day you should be. That said I've seen him hole pitches and bunker shots tooI pointed this out before, way back in this thread. My favourite Dan Grieve thing is when he's demonstrating a chipping technique and holes one. He'll just be so casual, like "so we just use a release one like this.. bit of roll-out there.. and that's gone in, so there you have it." I swear I've seen like 3 or 4 times now.![]()
Have you watched the one with Cal Freezey (a You Tuber and mid handicapper). Dan watches him, then says this is what you are doing, proceeds to make an awful swing copying Cal and the ball rolls out and drops in the hole.....Cal looks around to the camera as if to say WTFI pointed this out before, way back in this thread. Finch has had some injury issues and a few mental hang ups (certainly early in his attempts to qualify) and I think he needs to get a coach on baord to get his game in shape. Having played with him he could get through regional qualifying on his dayAm I going to watch Peter Finch - Quest for the Open 2025...?
I watched his attempt last year - and watched his abject failure in attempting to qualify - and despite myself I actually felt his heartache at how bad it went after all his efforts and relative successes along the way to when it really mattered.
So yes - I'll watch.
I don't follow or regularly watch any golf YouTubers but watch things that might take my interest - though I don't watch any coaching ones. I prefer Finch to Shiels...and have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Liam of GolfMates - more 'hate' (jealousy..?) at the moment given he somehow wangled a round at the OC - preferential treatment? And I will occasionally enjoy a bit of James Robinson.
I think the mental issues thing applies to both himself and Shiels. Maybe their YouTube success and very high profile has warped their thinking a bit.Finch has had some injury issues and a few mental hang ups (certainly early in his attempts to qualify) and I think he needs to get a coach on baord to get his game in shape.
