Golf Podcasts

OnTheMark with Mark Immelman
Fried Egg Golf
National Club Golfer
The Chipping Forecast
Hack IT Out Golf
Golf IQ

All these have some merit for me.

The Chipping Forecast I find is my favourite, having a podcast like that where you have an active player involved gives an insight you won't get with other pods

Shotgun Start for the W!
Takes a little while to get into, but consistently delivers.

Despite Crossfield's worst efforts, Hack it Out is decent, mainly because his co-hosts put him back in his box.

Very rarely listen to NLU now, Shotgun Start gives a much more balanced, appropriately cynical view of the wider pro golf landscape.

I'm with you on Shotgun Start, absolutely love it. Yeah they do go on about their football a bit but overall I really enjoy their output, their sense of humour is pretty similar to ours. Currently basking in their Annual Review.

I really enjoy most of the American stuff, still listen to most of No Laying Up, closely followed by The Golf Channel, First Cut and all the way from bonny Scotland The Bunkered featuring Alex Perry of Golf Magic forum notoriety...

After reading this thread I started listening to the chipping forecast, it’s superb. A great balance between serious golf chat and humour. Spent 8 hours on trains this weekend and got through lots of episodes, no doubt I’ll go back and listen to the earlier ones too!

It’s head and shoulders above the rest but simply down to the hosts, the pepper pod years ago was a great listen too all be it only for maybe a dozen episodes or so.

It’s no suprise Andrew Cotter, Iain Carter have done so well in their fields, I’d say Eddie pep will end up down the same route corresponding/commentating wise if the golf continues to struggle

Hello, hello, hello. Ah yes, The Chipping Forecast.Yes, chipping, not shipping. Homophones. Well not really homophones, but you know what I mean. Do you know that The Shipping Forecast dates back to 1859 ? Long before podcasts. Even Ian doesnt remember the early days of protecting those at sea. Worse things happen at sea. Troon is on the sea. But bad things dont happen in Troon. Aaaanyway. Bish, bash, bosh. No golf for me this week. Ian, no golf for you either with you ongoing injury ? Not to worry. Eddie is here. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. Reminds me of Eddie, Chandler Bings roommate. Eddie doesnt even know what we're talking about now. I'll be theeeere for youuuuuuu. No? You're too young. Who wrote the theme song ? Maybe we can find out before we are done. Play us out. If we can afford the royalties. Why are they called royalties anyway ? Does the king get a cut? So, golf. Yes we are a golf podcast. So, thats all we have time for. Sailing By. Yes, thats it, Sailing By.

Welfare check for Dunesman?

There’s an episode on the Cookie Jar Golf podcast (out last month) about the Coul Links course that they’re trying to get approval to build up near Royal Dornoch.
Gives a more recent update of what’s been happening as it’s been ongoing for a while, planning/submissions knockback’s etc.

It’s a good wee listen if that sort of stuff floats anyone’s boat

The Chipping Forecast is brilliant. I can't believe it took me so long to hear about it!

NLU continues to disappear up it's own backside. The specials episodes are worth a go, but the regular ones are now awful.

Rick Shiels' podcast seems to have died a death in the wake of his LIV deal. No more weekly issues. Just one interview with Casey, one with Niemann (don't really care about him) and that's it.

Guy must be gutted, he seems to have been put into storage for the time being. 😂

And Guy unlikely to be part of any on course vids now that Rick has access to the likes of Frederik Kjettrup.

I thought Guy was OK on the podcasts actually, and Rick was the weaker link. Rick dragged him down to inane conversation and invited the fawning Guy smothered him with as the next big thing in golf after Tiger.

Padraig’s a really good listen on the cookie jar golf podcasts most recent interview
He is very interesting. They man just seems pure golf. All an interviewer has to do is go, "So, Padraig, golf...".
And two hours later wonder does PH have an off switch

He has one up now, although I say podcast, Im not really sure that it is, or what it is. It manages to stay entirely golf content free. And is really just an insight in to one man's admiration of his own magnificence. I hadnt listen to him in quite a while, and some years ago quite enjoyed it, Guy included. But now it seems more like a Trumpian 'weave' about his existance, as he sees it, as the worlds premier social media golf entity/personality/influencer and how even better his 'content' is going to get. It has moved into a bizarre detached world. But worth one listen for its strangeness. R&A needs to shut down these novelty playing real open qualifiers too. Pretending he is trying to qualify for the open, when he has as little chance as we do really, devalues the serious sport that the Open is. They risk putting open qualifiers barely a notch above TGL.

I think Ian Fraser, now of The Fraser Golf Institute and formerly Club Champion and before that TXG, now does podcasts. I have watched one on YouTube but assume it must be on audio too. One of the most knowledgeable club fitters out there and very easy to listen to.

Yeah it was rather a long one. I listened on x1.3 speed and skipped through all the bits of Guy waffle where he essentially repeated what Rick had just told us. Then there was an interview with A.Kim tapped on the end. Hopefully the Podcast will return to standard at some point.

Good shout, just found on Spotify as 'Golf Asylum Podcast With Ian Fraser'. I will give that a go I think.
