I am working my way through this, it’s really interesting and how your body affects etc .. but also the point about different parts and strength vs speed. The latest from Sky commentator Iona Stephen is long, but interesting, and you keep watching, and the effusive youtube comments are well deserved.
Aside from her specifics, as she is effectively an example in this process, I would draw two conclusions :
- we are close to solving the golf swing. Finally. The years of wandering in the desert, copying the latest world no.1, and wild theories and guesses about what really goes on in the biomechanics of a golf swing, and what constitutes the right way to swing look to have been put to bed by technical measurment and scientific measurement.
- the era of the traditional teaching by a golf pro is fading out. They will shortly be completely obsolete. No teaching or coaching can be done by a pro looking at a swing, guessing, try this try that, do this drill, etc. Launch monitors are not enough. The eye just cant see what is really happening, and without the full armoury of measurement tech, they are just shooting in the dark. And a waste of time without forceplates, 3d measurement, and the physical side of the equation that we see here.
Must admit it started to grate on me after about 6/7 holes. I really like Finch but it got a bit cringe and even he knew itThe opening 2m 09s of this video is epic. The whole video is good but the intro is awesome. Someone working for Peter Finch really knows their Bond references as they are all bang on the nose. As a Bond geek this had the opportunity to annoy me immensely but I loved it.

Yeh, same here, the opening titles were great, but when it’s just him (or anyone to be fair) just playing on their own it’s very boring. You managed more than me
Watched lots of his stuff lately, previously not a huge fan.....but I only managed 3 holes of that zzzzz
I sat up and watched this the other night. It was really interesting and surprisingly kept me totally hooked from start to finish. That’s saying something as it’s nearly two hours long and any TV drama usually sees me reaching for the phone inside 10 mins. The latest from Sky commentator Iona Stephen is long, but interesting, and you keep watching, and the effusive youtube comments are well deserved.

I had to watch it in parts but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would love to do the screening myself, would be really interesting to see what they came back with.I sat up and watched this the other night. Well worth a watch for something completely different on the golf swing.
That edit is very very impressive...The opening 2m 09s of this video is epic. The whole video is good but the intro is awesome. She has started her own YouTube channel now. A distinction without a difference almost, since the National Club Golfer channel seemed to be exclusively her anyway - but she has left them and started her own channel from scratch to try and carve out a YouTube career. Good luck to her.No one really saw the comments, as it was pulled down quickly, but wouldn't expect they were abusive, perhaps more negative, which is fair game.
I like watching Hannah Holden - a young girl and reasonable golfer. Half her comments refer to her outfits and figure, to the extreme of calling her out as 'big' - that's abuse. She's worked on fitness and is doing well. No doubt part fuelled by said abuse.
I would say in this video, it was more RS abusing the fitting process...

Have you watched the skins match on the Bryan bros channel? Great watch.
No,I’ll give it a watchHave you watched the skins match on the Bryan bros channel? Great watch.
I tend to watch any YouTube video in blocks of 25-30 mins, so that one will last me a few days. 2 holes in, decent.3 hours 23 minutes. That's the latest Shiels video. This has gotten ridiculous. I've added it to my 'watch later' but I imagine it will stay there forever, since I'll never get time to watch that!
