I enjoyed Finch playing Lofoten Links trying to birdie every hole in 24hrs (IIRC he started at midnight). I found myself getting quite involved as he played, and replayed, and replayed, holes trying to get the birdie on it - all the time getting more frustrated, exhausted and at times quite despondent.

The match…not a fan of Shiels - everything is just a bit too ‘scripted’ or ‘performative’ with him. Find Finch a little more engaging.

Weird to watch Rick’s latest HIT club review (cobra king tec/tec-x irons) and he goes on and on and on and on about the 7iron loft and how mental it was/never seen the like blah blah. In short it totally dominated his product review

But TM, Cally, Mizuno to name three, (& cobra last year) have all produced irons with the 7iron loft within 0.5 of a degree of these king tec irons. So can’t understand why it was such a revelation/weird to hit club for him.

He must’ve forgotten he’s already reviewed several 7 iron clubs of this same loft !

Agree. The classic was the camera on a tripod down the line. Someone would play a shot then run back to the camera to try and catch up with the ball to zoom in on it to show where it landed.

Haha, I think only Liam from Golf Mates (or Golf Vlogs UK as it was then) used to do that. He's not the sharpest tool though. Half the time he didn't even finish his swing properly in his haste to run back and zoom it in.

The two recent matches between Shiels and Finch were both excellent watches. There's one on each channel. St Andrews was blowing a gale but the weather at Dunbarnie was beautiful. They both played some really good golf.

Just enjoyed watching Erik Anders Lang play at my gaff earlier in the summer. Actually turned up as they finished not knowing he was there and got to meet him. Seems like a nice chap.

You’ll be surprised at how many of these are paid for. Allegedly.

A guy I know did some digging a while back into his subscriber numbers and his video views and interactions and despite a huge boost of subscribers a while back, the amount of views on videos etc actually didn’t move…leading to the belief there are bots in those follower numbers. Add in who ‘part owns’ him, and it does add up.

Talking of wasted sponsorship, Matt Fryer did a full bag fitting at Mizuno following their sponsorship announcement.

Following video released yesterday shows him throwing those clubs around a golf course.

Strange if considered acceptable, or maybe encouraged to be risqué?

Hard to say whether it was the fit or the player. I am not sure he is one of the strongest playing youtubers out there and never seems to play too many events or do well when he does. Maybe it was all for show

I’ve always followed Matt as I had lessons with his dad at Drive Time in Warrington about 15 years ago, plus he was always talked about in the local area as a bit of a prodigy.

He had the game growing up, that’s for sure. Sadly, he did (and he’s spoken about this on his videos) have issues with anger management and being able to control his emotions. Basically the pressure got to him. At the time the 4 you tubers were at college, him and Andy Carter were streets ahead of Finch and Shiels in terms of ability.

He has had professional help with his anger and calmed down a lot and I think the humour he tries to hide behind is a way of coping.

Ultimately though, having him met and played with him a few times , he’s a funny guy , great company and a pleasure to play with. He’s also a phenomenal golfer who would be well into a plus handicap if he wasn’t a pro.

Onto his business , he’s learned from Shiels and built a good brand. Like a lot of these golf YouTubers, he works seriously hard. Beyond a 9-5 job and is constantly travelling. It’s not as glamourous as perhaps we all think it is.

If I had the opportunity to play with a UK YouTuber, I’d go for him or Andy Carter - still consider AC the best iron striker out there - but - his business is YouTube and he needs to stop the club chucking, or edit it out.
