3 hours 23 minutes. That's the latest Shiels video. This has gotten ridiculous. I've added it to my 'watch later' but I imagine it will stay there forever, since I'll never get time to watch that!

I aren't entertaining watching a video that long but Rick knows what he's doing. Huge subscriber base - people will play the videos and the podcasts and pay barely any attention whatsoever, and he'll rack up the watch hours and the revenue.

Maybe been mentioned before but James Wiltshire channel is worth checking it.

He's basically a fella looking at making it to the tour. On his channel currently hes out in south Africa playing and working on his game with players In a similar position and even some that have just broken onto the sunshine tour.

It's by no means a massive channel but imo it offers content that no other YT does that I know of at the moment. And not to mention the man has a majestic swing.

I hope some of yous check him out. Definitely worth your time if your interested in stuff other than club views and celebrity match plays etc
loves himself too much for my liking.

He started off as one of the regulars in Crossfield’s videos as Gorilla James 🙃 Have been following him for years and appreciate his content.

The only video I saw of his was where he deconstructed Rick Shiels' swing and belittled his game somewhat. Seemed a bit embarrassing trying to use Rick's name for clicks to be honest.

Any ideas how much money YouTubers make?
Obviously it goes on views, just curious how it’s calculated how much they earn.

There will be a few different factors I suspect, and there are plenty of websites that claim to be able to tell you the revenue from a channel based on views - but I'm not sure they are accurate.

I'd imagine on a golf channel with around 200,000 subscribers - the revenue generated is about £7 - £10 per 1000 views.

Some of the channels will be filing their financial records on Companies House so you can get some idea of their turnover / assets by having a nosey at the tax returns.

A guy I follow packed his job in around 6 months ago to become a full time Youtuber, he was a machinist at an engineering firm. He had around 40k subscribers at the time iirc, he has 80k now.

Having just broken into "earning" numbers, 1.16K subscribers, I can tell you that my earnings are predicted to be around £15 to £20 a month.

Considering the amount of time, research and effort that goes into making one video it's a very poor return and certainly not enough to make a living! :ROFLMAO:

But multiply that by 500, add in sponsorship deals and it starts to add up. Considering that most of the big channels employ quite a few helpers and you get an idea.

One guy I do enjoy watching is "Not a perfect golfer". Comes across , to me anyway, as a decent guy without an ego. Plus he's in a similar handicap bracket and more often than not playing courses I've played so I have a very good idea of how well/poor he's played.

I've seen him I think - is he the one who's swing looks awful but his short game is mustard so he usually breaks 80?

There's a channel called Bogey Golf and he has around 12,000 subscribers and plays badly every single video. Genuinely can't see why anyone would watch, with no effort to improve what he puts out.

Tried watching a few times, he's far too cheerful for my liking, if I played like him I'd be fuming.

I like this channel, no gimmicks, no matches, no annoying guests, just an average golfer playing various courses.

Just wish he'd stop the little toss and catch of the golf ball EVERY time he picks it out the hole. Irritates the hell out of me and I have no idea why.

He does it with his tee peg as well - so if you hadn’t picked up on it, that’s something else to bug you… ;)
