Which fairway woods have you found best off the deck?

Hi all

As I'm always willing to tinker/try new things I've been thinking about picking up a cheap 4 wood from eBay and see what it can offer my game.

But which ones have you found best off the deck? I don't forsee me using it off the tee so much.

Cheers all

Adam

Callaway B21

I’ve got the 5 wood, so easy to hit off the deck it almost feels like some kind of cheating. It is basically the new version of the one the guys are talking about on here.

Can’t go far wrong with a Callaway Big Bertha, prob best part of 10 years old by now, but great clubs and easy to use
As a cheaper option this is spot on.
3 wood can be adjusted to 17° of you want a slightly closed face or the 5 wood can be dropped to 17 if you want a slightly open face..
Came out in 2014 and can be had for 60 or 70 quid...

Thanks, I can't stand a closed face offset setup.... Doesn't suit my eye.

The f7/f8/f9 all have that black s/spot. I’ve got an f8 and whiles it’s great, I find the flight a little strong and have my 3/4 fairway cranked to max Loft of 16.5* and it’s still the lowest launching fairway I’ve ever used. I’d strongly deter people who struggle to get the ball flying off the deck to use one.

I have a Ping G series 5 wood and a Ping G425 7 wood … both are easy to hit of the deck. I have the SFT models to iron out my slight slice, but I’m sure that the standard models are just as good.

I agree with pendodave about 3 woods … tried several before I gave up and vowed never to try one again. Probably my low swing speed is the problem.

I find my ping g425 3 wood incredibly easy to hit now off the deck. Was originally struggling with it and wouldn’t use it much but just put a bit of time in practicing and now find it really easy to hit.

I have 3&4 hybrids in the bag but also trying to get used to a 5 wood for that extra distance. Is there a 'correct' set up for the perfect shot?

Amen. I’ve had mine forever and still in the bag. Fantastic club
