Factor a few lessons into your spending too, be a lot more beneficial than a newer or more expensive model of driver for example
Yes I had a few recently that greatly improved my game but I might need one tailored to my driver as I'm not getting a long with it too well at the moment. I was looking at the Ping G425 MAX as there are a few near me that are around the £200 mark and also the Taylormade Sim 2 MAX as well.Factor a few lessons into your spending too, be a lot more beneficial than a newer or more expensive model of driver for example
Another vote for Silvermere. Great 2nd hand options and a good range too.If you can get to Silvermere on the M25/A3 junction they have a huge shop. Should have second hand stuff and a Range to try them on. Give them a ring and see what they've got
I appreciate that a lot, thank you very much.I feel I may have misled you slightly in my previous post when I compared brand new Ping irons + 0.5 inch with their older sets.
The fitter gave you specs for Cobra Air 2.0 irons + 0.5 inch.
If you go for Ping G30 then you will need + 0.5 inch in those to get the closest comparison with the Cobras.
To make amends, I have created a comparison table.

Slightly shorter lengths throughout and the shorter irons become slightly more lofted. But overall they should be a good fit, I think.
The 38.13 length in the 6-iron is not a typo. It puts it halfway between the 5 and the 7.
I don't have any particular suggestions , but I would play with them for a while before you decide what you do need, some people get on with 4 irons some don't , it partly depends on swing speed but also on personal preferences.I have ordered the Ping G30's, they should be here on Monday. If I don't like them I can always send them back, just have to pay postage. Has anyone got any suggestions for a 2 and 4 hybrid? The irons are 4-SW so maybe I don't need a 4 hybrid?
Thanks
Would you be able to hit a 2 hybrid? Don’t know many who use themI have ordered the Ping G30's, they should be here on Monday. Makes sense, I'm assuming if I got a 4 hybrid it would overlap with the 4 iron too much?I don't have any particular suggestions , but I would play with them for a while before you decide what you do need, some people get on with 4 irons some don't , it partly depends on swing speed but also on personal preferences.
I have never hit one but I hit a 3 hybrid for a little while which I always struck quite well.Would you be able to hit a 2 hybrid? Don’t know many who use them
You don't really know till you try them, they are not all equivalent , a lot of people will not hit a 4i much further than a 5 or even 6i and their hybrids will go further or they might be better off with woods . Either way I'd see how you get on wit hyour irons and for a while and see where your gaps are before working out where to fill them.Makes sense, I'm assuming if I got a 4 hybrid it would overlap with the 4 iron too much?
I'm going to see how I do with them and if I don't like them then I will try a 3 and 5 hybrid set.Buy a 5 and a 3 hybrid. Chances are you won't be flushing your 4 and 5 irons.
Does the G30 set come with a wedge between PW and SW.I'm going to see how I do with them and if I don't like them then I will try a 3 and 5 hybrid set.
The set I ordered comes with a PW and a SW. I agree a 50° might be needed if I think there is too much of a gap between the PW and SW.Does the G30 set come with a wedge between PW and SW.
PW = 45°
SW = 54°
If not, you might need a 50°
And possibly a 58° or 60°
It's not something that I have considered but I will have a look at themHave you considered a boxed set. Wilson and Inisis make sets that have good reviews from Professionals. Some videos on YouTube where they're being tested.
I am readily checking FB Marketplace, there were a few Ping G425 MAX drivers near me that were around £200. It's difficult to tell sometimes whether they are scams though and that's why I'd rather buy off of a reputable seller. Have seen some very good deals on FB though.Oh ah. I bought some Ping G430 irons brand new off Facebook and picked them up from a golf club.
5,6,7,8,9,pw and 54 for £550. I was over the moon.
Bought a G430 driver for £270 whilst there.![]()
