I posted before about going to buy some new irons from our pro. Went for the fitting, he told me that a box on the simulator screen wouldl turn blue when they were the right irons for me. The ones I already owned were the only ones that lit up blue. 'Save your money, take the wife on holiday. Those clubs are fine for you for now. Maybe just have a llesson instead.'

So I finally got round to going for the lesson last week. My first for around 5 years.
He was brilliant. 15 mins on irons. 15 mins on my driver. 30 mins chipping. Irons are miles crisper, driver is still a work in progress. And - no exaggeration - I've went from feeling like a complete novice when I chip to someone whose chipping resembles my current handicap. The first time I've been able to say that for years!

So - thank you to all you golf club pros out there. I promise not to try fixes of my own, watch YouTube videos and then try things that probably have no correlation to my swing faults, and I'm going back for a lesson per month just to keep me on the right track.

Bring on the summer!

Funnily enough I've just booked a lesson with our pro for a couple of weeks time. I've only played once so far in 2026, won't be playing again for another 2 weeks. I've got a big, fun, April coming up and I don't want to be hacking the course up. A refresher lesson is just the thing. In the past I'd have just played and took what happened. I think this is a smarter move.
