Full set for less than £1000?

I am readily checking FB Marketplace, there were a few Ping G425 MAX drivers near me that were around £200. It's difficult to tell sometimes whether they are scams though and that's why I'd rather buy off of a reputable seller. Have seen some very good deals on FB though.
The thing is with Ping irons. It is the lie angle you need to know. Then you are on the right lines.

This is the one. Not sure of the month though.

Hi @Evan Atkinson I think you have done the correct thing. £1000 is enough to build a decent bag in the second hand market.

Saying second hand that's what I'd strongly push .. second hand not packages. More resale value if and when you decide to upgrade. You can also start slowly

Id say focus on 5-pw irons. Ping is perfect as even if incorrect lie you can send them to ping to be adjusted for a small charge

Grab a 54/56 wedge (depends on pitching wedge) a Cleveland cbx wedge is cheap and cheerful

Then imo for now you only need 3 other clubs

5 wood
Driver
Putter

That's 11 clubs to start then add as and when you feel you need to. IE you want a hybrid

Driver wise I'd say target TM and Callaway. They love to bring out a model every year so you will find they don't hold their value as much thus bargain for you . Same with 5 wood

Putter, go try a few in a shop and then buy second hand the one you like

Whilst there is very little wrong with golf bidder. Excellent place for bargains id personally recommend golfclubs4cash.. reason being you get 30 days to try and return if you don't like. So long as you don't take the Mick they will allow you this. Think that's a very good deal. I'm personally trying a new putter this month and it is doesn't suit back it goes.

Now you have the pings for a decent price you have a fair amount of wiggle room in the rest. Wedge should be about £70 at most. Aim for £150 5 wood. £250 driver leaving you £130 for your putter

Job done

I agree. Golfclubs4cash is also a far better layout imo and superior filters for finding the ideal clubs. Golf bidder is a bit of a mess layout wise

Yes I found this when searching, does help that golfclubs4cash have an app aswell which is very useful

When I got my clubs. The gap in the clubs was a 50degree wedge. I ordered one through my pro. £130. To say I paid £550 for 7 irons. It kinda endorsed I got a good deal for the irons.
The total price for the iron set and a driver was £770. It was more than that if I just ordered the irons from
My pro. Plus I got a free cap 😁
The deals are out there. It’s just being patient and finding them. 👍
Good luck me man

only thing I’d disagree with is the Driver.
Any of the Ping Max models.

Its not that I'm not recommending the pings.. excellent drivers. It's just Callaway and Taylor made upgrade their drivers every single year so you can grab a proper bargain on the old models where as ping isn't as often majority of time

I think ping upgrade as regular now.
Can get a G400 max for £200.

G400 is an old old driver now days tho it's the same age as my eldest lol and she's 8

Where as sim2 you can get for similar price 2021 model

That's a fair few years difference

True.
But drivers seem to have hit a point in the last few years where they haven’t really got any better.
They use to be all about hitting it further, now it’s being more forgiving.
But when you see comparisons of older models v new models the big difference is the price, rather than the performance.

Very true, g400 is an excellent driver. It's one that ping really got spot on. Looks, feel, performance

I’ve recently stalked the market for a g430 10k max, after a couple of months I managed to get one for approx £300, that was the lowest price I found in that time.

I’d say £200 is too cheap. I mean it might be a genuine bargain but I personally wouldn’t risk it, likely to be a scam or damaged.

For £200 you’re looking at the previous model, the g425. Had the max version for a while and it’s an excellent driver. Also had the previous model to that, the g410 plus, again, excellent.

Hi there, yes I was thinking that it would be the case of going somewhere to try out different sets in person. I'm not keen on spending all of the money on irons as much as they are arguably the most important clubs. I was thinking of spending about 60% of the budget on irons and then finding used woods, driver and wedges.
No worries. So the companies that spring to mind are Golf Clubs for cash, golf bidder and golf factory. I believe all 3 have testing facilities is you can travel to one. It really would be worth putting a few hours on the road than buying online.

The G30 irons I ordered come with a 30 day return guarantee so if I don't like them I can send them back. I got them off of golfclubs4cash on eBay. But when I decide on whether I want a hybrid or not, then I will definitely go to golfbidder or wherever I see one that I am after.

There was one near me that wasn't a scam but most of them in that price range are for sure. Though the thing that puts me off on the G425 is apparently its quite loud, so not sure if I should be looking elsewhere for a driver.

Personally I wouldn’t bother with a boxed set.
They’re a budget quality but still quite expensive.
You’ll get a good condition set of ping g425 irons for £500 on eBay.
I have been looking for G425 but I need them in the right spec and if I did find one it might be out of my budget for irons. I'll see how I get on with the G30's for a while then maybe in the future invest in a more modern set.
