Portuguese manager ✔️
Club that's basically a Portuguese outpost ✔️
Bottom ✔️
No Europe ✔️

In you come.
I wondered what was going on at Wolves as I thought they were decent, but then I checked the fixtures they'd had. What are the odds of getting Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City and Villa away in your first 8 games?? Proper harsh! Pretty easy run of 8 games after Brighton away this weekend though.

It was a heck of a brutal start for them hence why I don’t think he should be judged just yet

Saka, Odegaard, Palmer? Were they not amongst the top performers last season in what many call the best league in the world? There are 30 nominations, so why wouldn't you expect them to be on the list?
Why do they even have 30 nominees, that's far too many. Nobody really believes the likes of Saliba, Xhaka, Olmo, Vitinha etc etc has any realistic chance of winning the thing. Just a meaningless platitude that brings in more debate about those who aren't on it. It should be a top ten maximum.

Exactly that

Pick the top 6 and maybe 10

I suppose for the likes of Xhaka at least he won something

No idea, but I suppose it gives journalists a comprehensive list of players so they can all nominate their Top 10 players in order (think it works a bit like Eurovision).

For years, we pretty much knew Ronaldo or Messi would win it, but it wouldn't be a very prestigious award if only those 2, and maybe a couple of token others, were up for the nomination.

I thought Bellingham would be in with a real good chance after his debut season at Madrid. But, I can see why Junior is favourite, if his performances have been anything like they were the other night.

This is another one of my bugbears with the award to be honest. Him, Grimaldo and Wirtz could have had better seasons, but if Leverkusen had finished 2nd they wouldn't be on there. Would Nico Williams be there if Spain didn't win the Euros? It's meant to be an individual award not a team award. Lookman appears to be there for the sake of one game as he scored a hat-trick in the Europa Final.

Having said all that, at least Messi isn't in it this time!

According to Oddschecker, Vinicius Junior is the odds-on favourite, which is a shame because he seems like an absolute cockwomble. Reincarnation of Neymar.

Exactly, think the votes get it down to a top 10 in order. I can see why Junior is favourite but wonder if Bellingham will make top 3

The only thing about the easier run of games is that confidence is through the floor.
We finished last year poorly too.

Not sure I have seen those same things about Vinicius - at some times players do need to have a bit of arrogance about them but he has had to deal with a lot of racism in Spain

Williams had a couple of decent games in the Euros

But Xhaka was Key to that outstanding Leverkusen season

Managed to secure myself a pair of these beauties this morning along with the sweatshirt.
My work boss asked me to try to get a pair for her Forest supporting husband. I did. So did she, as it turned out.
As a result I have a spare pair on the way in size 9. If any of you guys want them please let me know or I'll be returning them. Can't be arsed with the eBay profiteering thing so it'll be £110 plus Evri postage.

Edit: names of known Forest folks added to attract your attention if you didn't see it first time. I might not be keeping the sweatshirt too. They're sold out on the club website.

We've had this previous years, Everton. Horrible fixtures, confidence is shot, fans are on edge. By the time you get to the easier games you are in no state to take advantage.

I'd far rather have an easier start, build up the confidence, have a happy crowd. More chance of doing well against the better teams at that point. Confidence is a huge factor.

It is. Although I was in such a rush to check out and secure it that I didn't realise it was £110. Part of me thinks the plain Fruit of the Loom one off Amazon for £12.99 would actually have been cooler. 🤦‍♂️🤣
But that's the 50% Yorkshire part I inherited from Dad rather than the 50% Nottingham from Mum that didn't look at prices.

It appears everything they sell is £110
