Potter didn't fare too well after Chelsea. Where are Van Gaal and Ole
It depends how you rate managers though.

Did anyone ever think Potter was a world class manager, simply based on what he did at Brighton? The jury is still out on him. However, I'm sure he will still get a decent job somewhere, he was still a lot of people's top choice for England manager, so he isn't a has been yet.

Nobody ever thought Ole was world class, but he basically got the job because Utd just so happened to play great football when he was temporary manager. What followed didn't add anything to Ole's CV to make him look like a world class manager. or even a very good manager, so I never thought he'd have a good chance of getting a get a top job after Man Utd. I never thought he'd get a top job before Utd, and only got his chance with us because of his connections as a player and because it was only going to be on a temporary basis anyway.

Van Gaal retired from management after Utd for "family reasons". He came out of retirement in 2021 to manage the Netherlands.

They do, but Salah wasn't world class when you signed him, he grew into that role and stepped up.

Same with many others!

What we need to do is stay in and around the top 6 year after year, we will get players interested in coming.

We may already have this player too - very excited about Rogers, he's just different gravy at present.

Salah wasn’t but then the big players that moved it from challenging to winning was getting in the likes of VVD and Allisson

Clubs in the past have been on the periphery of the top 4 but never sustained because big clubs came in and grabbed players and manager etc

And Rodgers look outstanding

My one concern if I was a United fan would be what on earth is going on tbf.

Every top candidate in world football is taking jobs elsewhere at the moment, why?

I know you have a manager, but these guys surely know ETH is under big threat?
Because, despite what the media say, man Utd have a manager. INEOS have not sacked him, and haven't made it clear that there is a job going to be available soon. If INEOS truly wanted a new manager, they could just get rid of ETH, have Ruud on a temporary basis and then start reviewing who they want, whilst potential candidates who are interested know there is a position available.

The problem is that every top candidate is a manager that has generally been sacked from wherever they have been before. So, you could argue that the only top candidates are sacked managers looking for a new job. I'm sure a lot of these managers can do a capable job somewhere else under the right conditions, but there may also be questions just to how good they'd be. And how much of an improvement they'd be.

If INEOS are genuinely considering a new manager, perhaps they are not just looking at other managers currently out of work? Maybe they are looking at managers in work that are doing really well, and waiting for the right time to try and persuade them to come to Utd, if possible? That right time may very well depend contracts these managers are under.

And this is what atm were doing very well, players deals are being extended as soon as possible to ensure we hold as much power as possible.

We sold Dougie (who many will say was one of our best, and he was great, but we had replaced him already by signing Tilemans) and we added a defensive beast in Onana.

We sold Diaby - to saudi after 1 year at villa for 25m profit and a good turnaround. Rogers was his replacement but albeit a slightly different offering.

Ollie, Emi M - anyone whos anyone in our team - not even sniffing at a move.

As you say - you needed VVD and Allison - what we need is a 25+ goal contributions player (I understand these are very hard to find but over the years every top 6 side has had one or two) and we need a top class right back.

Good luck to them trying to poach him. We've gone big on him, given him everything he could ask for etc much like you did for Klopp. I dont think theres a club in the world that get him off us for the next 5 years or so other than maybe a massive Spanish club.
I agree .
He can’t need the money.!
He’s adored at a club that’s playing as good as anybody atm.
So why uproot your life.

Hope it carries on but we beat you in the CL final.😉

Totally agree. Doesn't need to go anywhere. Good contract, good money and a club that gives him what he needs to do the job. Down to him to prove himself.

have to laugh at the commentator in the Panathinaikos - Chelsea match.

The Greek fans are targeting the Chelsea players with laser pens. Commentator says "its stupid really because they will be reported to UEFA".

I just laughed and said to no one in particular (well, perhaps the dog who is sat behind me)..."...and UEFA will do what exactly?"

...and you know thats not going to happen in a million years....Greek, Turk, Eastern European fans/clubs have been pushing the boundaries of acceptable behavior for years, and the footballing authorities sit on their hands and do no more than offer mealy mouthed platitudes.

They do nothing about racist or tradegy chants so I’m not holding out any hope of them doing something about laser pens

Then again knowing UEFA they will prob throw down the strongest punishments

Laser pens shone into someone’s eye can cause damage.
Worse the racist or tragedy chants (which is also bad) imo.
