The EFL Thread

Yet many said at the start of the season that he was a shrewd appointment with his knowledge of both the club and the league.

Seems they were wrong and why would any club consider Rooney as a manager?
All the signs were decent at the start of the season, did our transfer business early to get a decent squad, got a good mix of youngsters and experience but for some reason Evans has not got them firing on the pitch. Have been hampered slightly by injuries (which team hasn't) but, when Plan A fails there doesn't seem to be a Plan B. Maybe the league has moved on and Evans hasn't adapted?

Very surprised by how bad you've been for all the above reasons. I thought you'd got a strong, experienced and decent enough side to easily mount a promotion push. Evans has a good record at this level too.

Despite more off pitch chaos and an injury crisis, we're in the play off positions and unbeaten in 11. Quite amazing really when you consider everything. It looks like 4 clubs fighting for 6th place and I'm not sure we've taken enough points from the easy run of games we had before the international break. We're going to need some big performances this week against Blackpool away and Wycombe home. If we can take 4 points we'll be right in there.

New manager bounce for the mighty Millers! :)
Watched the match on TV last night and they seemed to have more energy and fight, lots of effort and a deserved win. Hopefully can back it up with good performances and results for the rest of the season.

Wycombe done over in the little Thames Valley Derby. Win keeps the play off dream alive.

Need Rotherham to do us a favour at Bolton on Tuesday 👀

I suppose that after today's results even a confirmed pessimist like myself has to now accept that we are going up.

Trouble is 67 years of supporting them makes me reluctant to ever believe until complete mathematical certainty.

Having gone to around 30 games this season, I can safely say there is no way anyone is catching Birmingham. It's a pretty poor league which is summed up by us even having a chance of the play offs!

Enjoy the final few games and look forward to next season. Birmingham are too big to be in this league. Be great if you didn't break our 106 record though

A lot of our fans are setting that as a target but personally I am not really bothered.

But then I have only been interested in getting promotion. Not even too worried about the EFL Trophy although I may feel different at Wembley next Sunday.

It's tough to carry on with the foot down when you've already won the title. I make it 60/40 in your favour but ours was in a higher league and no one really cares about League One or Two.

Enjoy Sunday, always a great day out at Wembley. Peterborough are a very attacking side so I predict goals.

I agree but also think it's worse than that.

As far as the non- committed football followers and the media are concerned there was no football game before the Premier League and doesn't exist outside of it.

As for Wembley I have to say that I preferred the old stadium and even the Millennium Stadium.

The "new" Wembley is sterile, lacks character and suffers due to its surroundings.

Very true. I don't think many fans would be able to tell you who holds and EFL points record, despite the EFL taking up more than 80% of the professional teams in the country.

Wembley is OK if you drink in central and have one nearby or in the ground. Cardiff was quality for those 6 years, great city and place! Wembley externally has been ruined by too many flats popping up around it. Just adds to the chaos.

One of my ward clerks is a massive Burnley fan so she's very happy although realistic to know their run in is very tough. At least it is in their hands...... for the moment and Easter Monday home to Sheffield United looks like a promotion decider

I think Leeds and Burnley will go up automatically.

Sheffield Utd have overachieved according to the data. Losing at Oxford was a real shocker.

But are Leeds doing a Leeds again. Not so long ago they were clear at the top and now stumbling again. Momentum at this time of the season is a big part of it all. I think if Sheffield go up they will come straight down again as will Burnley. I think Burnley will yo yo for a few seasons like Fulham did

No idea why I've become so invested in the Championship race except I have a fanatical Burnley fan working for me and a lot of dirty Leeds fans at the golf club. Seems that Burnley v Sheffield United game at Turf Moor on Easter Monday is going to be a promotion decider

Hope we did ok for you 😂

Very happy with that - much appreciated! Huddesfield also lost and we won, so currently sit 2 clear in 6th with the better run in.

If we managed to make the play offs given the chaos around the club it will be the achievment of the season in any league IMO.

Transfer embargo for 5 years now (only frees and loans who have to be approved by the EFL)
Only the sell on money from Olise to Bayern kept the club afloat for the first 6 months of the season
Sold our best and only winger to Millwall in August
Lost our manager half way the season when he walked out
Appointed the Academy Head Coach who had pretty much zero first team experience
Sold our best striker to Wrexham in January to pay wages for the rest of the season
Sold our best player to Forest but managed to get a loan back deal (he's been superb and just as committed)
Plagued by injuries all season with often half the first choice side out
Youngest first eleven in the league

Throw in the chaos off the pitch with at least three takeovers falling through, the owner being disquailified and us having the threat of being kicked out of the entire football league hanging over us....yet we're still pushing for promotion. Unbelievable.

Leeds should be about 15 clear, their keeper has cost them at least 8 points with absolute howlers.

Convinced they will win the title and last night reinforced that. Their toughest fixture over with and the better run in, plus the other two face off on Easter Monday.

I'd love to see Bristol City go up via the play offs, probably the biggest team never to have played in the rebranded Premier League?
