I thought the Cash one was pretty harsh to be fair, in real time its nothing - in slow motion it looks like something more.

Overall - Peno saved anyway so no big deal in the end - but I think the handball rule is a bit rubbish at present. Bring back intent.
Agreed that it seems very harsh especially when the player is that close
You’re absolutely right it is. Stop fixating on Man United.

Oh, sorry. You’re talking about the Arsenal game, aren’t you?

😉

So have seen the Man Utd highlights

Very good second half and two quality finishes - Rashford ball for the first was very good and great little finish for the winner

Never a foul. And, if it was, fouls would be given at every single corner, as opponents are all over each other, competing for space.

If it was a foul, such as if Silva grabbed the keeper and tried to drag him away, then I'd expect VAR to ask the referee to review it.

But, he basically just stood in a position, back to the keeper. He's entitled to be there, no rule saying you need to give the keeper space.
Just because they're not consistently given doesnt mean it's not a foul. For me, it was a cynical nudge that we often see given everywhere else on the pitch.

Cynical ? They are both doing it and also both having a laugh with each other

There is a reason why not one single Wolves player including the gk complained - even the manager afterwards was talking about the interference and offside not the smallest of handbags before the ball was coming in

I'm just taking a minute and realising how mind blowingly good Unai Emery has been for Villa.

Match made in heaven!

In other news - Ollie Watkins now needs only 10 more goals in the Prem to match Gabby's record.... Hes been so good for us, hope he smashes that barrier this season and breaks into the prem 100 club in the next 24 months!

Now that would be good to see him break that record - will shut up him up

He should get the record surely. Thought you got the most out of a very average performance at the weekend and we should have got something had the penalty gone in. No issue with the red card but had we scored I think we'd have been good for a draw at least

I watched the extended highlights on Saturday night. Have to say I thought that was as well as United have played this season, especially the second half.

That’s the absolute minimum level they should be aspiring to every week.

That’s the key now though isn’t it - getting those consistent levels each week

Can’t really give too much on the overall game but need to get shaw back in there from what I could see

Shaw is still a huge miss. They lack balance still if playing Dalot at left back, or worse still putting a central defender like Martinez there. I know Harry Amass is still a young lad but he needs to get his chance. Maybe we’ll see him next week in the Carabao Cup.

I agree both finishes were excellent. And I think Hojlund’s all round performance was absolutely first class. He doesn’t get anywhere near the credit he deserves for some of his hold up play.

The Garnacho volley is almost instinctive but the finish from Hojlund was excellent , superb composure - he will score goals for you if he gets the service , not sure if he is a 20 goal a season striker and if he needs someone closer to him

Back line will be an issue for a while

I’ve liked Hojlund pretty much since he arrived. And if he gets to work with Van Nistelrooy for any length of time that can only help him. Because certainly last season I do question whether he had the right person at the club to help him develop - certainly on the playing staff there was nobody to take on that mantle.

The back line is getting there. I’m a huge fan of Martinez, and I have liked what I have seen of de Ligt. He may well not be a massive upgrade on what is there, but if he can put in consistent, no fuss performances then I’m happy with that. Dalot has come on immeasurably as a full back, but the left back conundrum needs a solution. My understanding was that Mazraoui was brought in because he was equally comfortable on both flanks but it seems the manager has other ideas.

Think one of the key factors needed with one of the CBs is pace - need to have one of them to be able to cover well - it’s one of the issues that De Ligt has had in both Italy and Germany - he is physical and will have no issues getting stuck in especially in the air - it’s his movement which I think he may struggle with - it’s prob a step up on Maguire because he it better physically in the tackle

The first half was a pretty balanced affair. Not great, not shocking. Still looked like a side really poor in front of goal, not making the right final pass or the likes of Garnacho snapping at shots when they came. Unfortunate De Ligt got a knock to head in 11th minute, and had to keep going off to stop the bleeding.

As soon as we came out for second half, was an incredible transformation, played so much better. The flow of their play was great, and Dalot was constantly causing a threat when Onana had the ball, as be was asked to run in behind the left back. Brentford kept getting caught out.

As I said during the game itself, Hojlund was excellent at holding the ball up and bringing others into play, but still doesn't get many chances. I think his goal might have been his only chance. Zirkzee came on at end of game, and looked shockingly short of confidence. Although, in fairness, was part of a few moves later on that were promising. De Ligt was fantastic, just looked like a rock at the back and seems to be a big leader. Just hope he can build on that. Evans yet again gave a really solid display, can always rely on his attitude and experience at the very least. And, despite Garnacho being rather frustrating in first half, he was an absolute menace to Brentford. Gave them all sorts of headaches, and good to see him get that finish early in the second half.

Thought united were as good as I’ve seen albeit limited to the tv games. Think he got a tune out of everyone but they need to keep it going. It is the in and out nature of their season that annoys fans

To be fair didn’t Mazzini have a hear procedure? Hard to be subjective and definitely needs a good run of games

Just looking at the ref watch and how the hell didn’t they give a penalty for Southampton- it’s a clear shirt pull 🤷‍♂️

Staggering that they see that and don’t do anything
Clearly not or it would been looked at. According to your logic all these incidents need looking at so what time do you think the game will end with these VAR reviews

The officials judgement that it was inconsequential seemed right though - he was never getting close to the ball.
And Shearer's assessment that the shirt pull lasted 5 seconds was funny. 5 seconds of slow motion replay is about 1 second.

We had this against Chelsea, Summerville was pulled back in the book. The official line was not long enough holding to be a foul

Gallagher was going on about him have at least 5 steps as he was going for the ball - not sure if that’s deemed inconsequential or not - that’s a long time to grab hold of someone’s shirt
