Did you not see the foul on the keeper by Bernado Silva seconds before the john stones header?
We were talking about a completely different incident. Wolves attack, City player takes the ball from the attacker, from behind.

No, I did not see that as a foul, the Silva incident. There is all sorts of minor pushing and shoving at a corner. As long as it stays minor, it's fine. The keeper pushes enough people, should penalties be given each time? General incident, carry on.

Otherwise every set piece would be halted. Keepers are over protected anyway (and I say that as an ex-keeper) and the game would be even more stop start at set pieces than it is now

Well if they did, thats another poor decsion by VAR/onfield ref. It is a clear foul on the Wolves GK.
Why is it a foul? Silva just stood in front of keeper, and stood his ground as the keeper thought about coming out for cross? If there was a foul, some might say the keeper fouled Silva, as he tried to shove him out of the way with both arms (I don't think the keeper made a foul either btw)

I think most teams use this tactic at corners, get someone in front of the keeper to restrict their movement. It is something that is obviously allowed, otherwise free kicks would be given at most corners for a foul on the keeper.

What foul ? Gk is trying to push him away from being somewhere he is entitled to be

The only issue with Silva was to ensure he wasn’t interfering when Stones had the header and he moved out of the way

If two players giving each other a nudge is foul then penalties every time there is a corner

No he never. He clearly bumped into Sa to unsettle him. It is a foul. Sa shoved him back after he was fouled.

I never knew teams used it as a tactic to restrict the keepers.

@Bazzatron was talking about the tackle in the lead up to goal, not the Silva incident. Anyway, it's an open forum. Anyone can dip in and out of discussions.
The goal actually came from a corner. i know that VAR cannot go that far back because the ball had gone out of play and then restarted with a corner so VAR can only check from the corner onwards.

Never a foul. And, if it was, fouls would be given at every single corner, as opponents are all over each other, competing for space.

If it was a foul, such as if Silva grabbed the keeper and tried to drag him away, then I'd expect VAR to ask the referee to review it.

But, he basically just stood in a position, back to the keeper. He's entitled to be there, no rule saying you need to give the keeper space.

Indeed. As long as there is no deliberate obstruction he can stand where he wants. Were he to then back into the keeper then of course it would be a foul but otherwise it is up to the keeper to decide how/if he can get to the ball. I do concede they get the slightest bump these days and get a foul
