Sometimes I’m not sure you watch the same game, any player with the ball in that situation is going to collide with the keeper, not every collision is a foul, both moving at speed, both in each others path, both going for the ball, no intent on either part to foul the other.

The onus is not on the keeper to avoid the other player.

I would add, I would hope anywhere else on the pitch the officials would look at intent.

Every touch isn’t a foul and just like every touch of the ball doesn’t mean it’s irrelevant what happens after that

If Jones isn’t taken out then he is past the gk with the ball

That’s not even with the potential push from Tosin on Jones

And even if there is no intent a foul can still be committed if the player is impeded

I have no doubt that everyone would be calling that a foul anywhere on the pitch

Yes the onus is on the gk to avoid the collision if there is the potential to impede the player - a gk doesn’t have the right to just clatter a player even if it’s a slight touch on the ball

But A lot of it was subjective hence why I don’t believe it was a clear and obvious error

If you nutmeg someone and they stop you from going to get the ball even if there is no intent then it’s a foul

According to Sky Football -

Diogo Jota is a major doubt for Liverpool's Champions League game with RB Leipzig on Wednesday after being forced off against Chelsea.

The Portugal forward had to be replaced just 30 minutes into the 2-1 win over Chelsea after struggling with effects of an early challenge from Tosin Adarabioyo.

"Diogo had to be substituted," said Slot. "I’m not sure what it is but I’d be surprised if he’s there on Wednesday."

During the game, Sky Sports News reporter Vinny O'Connor said:

"It looks like a rib injury for Jota. He’s been feeling it since he was brought down by Tosin when running through. It seemed to be a knee in the ribs that caused the issue."

Darwin Nunez came on for Jota and could start in Germany.

If you nutmeg someone they haven’t touched the ball!

How many times do we see a one on one in the box, player puts the ball past the keeper and goes over his arm and a penalty is given, then we hear, the player does not have to avoid the keepers arm or try and jump over it? Loads.

Difference yesterday was the 2 players were in direct contact, keeper touched the ball and the players came together, nowhere else for the keeper or jones to go. Collision was not a foul.

Of course you can nutneg someone even if they touch the ball - that’s exactly what happened , the ball went through the GK legs

Personally, I'd sort of agree with Neville right now, given it is only October. Liverpool have started well, but maybe still need to wait to see if they can mount a title challenge?

Liverpool fell short last season. Season before that, they were 5th and 17 points behind Arsenal. So, it does feel like Arsenal have built up some momentum and form over the last couple of seasons, while Liverpool stuttered. Not sure Liverpool made many big improvements in the transfer market this season?

Not so say they can't challenge, they've had a good start. But if I had to make a bet right now, I still suspect Arsenal will be the main ones to challenge City. Spurs were top of the league after 8 games last year, to then finish the season 25 points behind City (of course, Liverpool are a lot better than Spurs)

it is good listening to the likes of Neville continue to ignore us as challengers

Still has the believe that Arsenals squad is much stronger , deeper in depth to challenge City

Arsenal will bottle it somehow yet again, so my hopes are fully on a Liverpool title win this year!

If you avoid injuries to VVD and Salah, you're in with a great shout.

Arsenal are already playing "not to lose" - 4 CB's and 2 CDM's started against Bournemouth.... and they still lost! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

While everyone is debating the penalty that wasn't given, it was a foul in the lead up to City's winner and we'd have killed the game at that point. Hands in the back and tackling from behind.
Carry on.

To be fair to Arsenal, that was their first competitive loss since mid April, when they lost away to Bayern 1-0? And they went down to 10 men against Bournemouth in 1st half

Mind you, I always find it hard to look past Man City. But, I guess someone will beat them to the title eventually. Assuming it isn't going to be Man Utd, my hope is that it is either Villa or Brighton that win it :)

I don’t think they are ignoring yous, but like they said on commentary yesterday, nothing was broken, so Slot hasn’t had to fix anything yet.

You won’t know how he’ll cope until you lose a few players or suffer a few defeats.

He’s had a brilliant start, but is that credit to him or the players.

99% of us could pick the starting XI for yous atm.

Always said that their squad looked very thin even more so letting the likes of Smith Rowe and Eketiah go etc

Still think City will win but the next couple of weeks will test Slot

We're giving it our best but I'm sure we will fall quite far short :ROFLMAO:

Arsenal might not lose a lot - but they lose when they really cant! A loss now wont cost them the title alone, far from it, but come Jan, when the City train starts rolling, they'll need to be equal or ahead to even stand a chance - I think they look worse this year than in previous years personally too - attacking looks flat - too reliant on moments of brilliance.

It didn't look like the VAR showed the onfield ref the foul in the lead up to the goal. If its shown then it changes the outcome. I felt for Wolves and O'Neil yesterday, they were good value for the draw.

I've not watched them in as much detail to truly compare them this year and last season. But, I'm sure Odegaard is a big miss to them. This is always going to be a problem for other sides in contrast to Man City. You can probably name 3-4 big players for top sides, where if they are missing, could really have a negative impact on their side.

Whereas Man City seem to be able to lose 2-3 of their biggest players, but often seem to continue playing exactly the same way. Even when they lost De Bruyne and Haaland last year. Although they did have Alvarez last year. Just looked at City's squad this year, and Haaland is the only one in the squad who is classed as a FW (on wiki)
