I get that the Indian crowds are passionate about their national side. But I thought they were passionate about cricket, regardless of of who is playing.

The turnout here is an absolute embarrassment. It makes the football World Cup in Qatar look impressive in comparison.
looks like the corporate and various county/association ticket did not turn up. Friend just paid 2x for the retail tickets for another match.
Meanwhile the India v Pakistan match is going at 10x if you are lucky

Well, we will not know if England have made a mess of this until New Zealand have batted. Too many seemed to get in and not crack on. Good recovery at the end to be fair.

I’m less than convinced England have enough runs on the board 😉.

About 100 light at this rate. Shockingly poor.

had to go into office so missed the match completely... saw the scores at 3 points and was shocked

1) we were about 240/9 in some 45 overs... so i thought we will get bowled out... 250-260 tops
2) Came back from lunch, and Eng put about 290!!!! .... so i thought this is in the bag. no need to watch the kiwis
3) Was in the pub after work and someone told me we lost!!... by 9 wicktets!!!

Can Eng win without Stokes?

He wouldn’t have helped as it was the bowling that let us down most

The pitches look abysmal and nothing but dangerous.
Haven’t seen any pitch that gives cause for alarm in terms of player safety? The pitch today was prepared to maximise India’s chances with their 3 spinners. It’s a bit iffy but in no way is it dangerous.

I think the single biggest danger in cricket is to the fans in the ground with the big hitting.

Though the ICC are supposed to be in charge of pitch preparation, so the fact that it is so obviously skewed is worrying.

Sri Lanka nearly lost a player to a serious knee injury as the pitch didn't allow him to slide. Players are reportedly being advised not to slide to stop balls in the field.
I would consider that situation a dangerous pitch.
