For all the talk of Bazball we've scored 380 runs in a day playing proper cricket shots and not doing anything silly. Crawley and Root both unlucky with the ball keeping low but that's probably not a bad thing with having to bowl Australia out again to win the match. Push on in the morning and get the lead over 200 and then hope the weather holds for long enough to get the win.

At the rate they have come out of the traps it looks like we are aiming for a 200 plus lead by lunch.

250 lead by lunch then bowl them out by tea

Surpsimng how much talk I am seeing about it all being over today. As long as we have runs on the board, I would bat down to Woakes and save Wood, Broad and Jimmy having to pad up, send them out nice and fresh.

23 overs bowled in 2 hours is shocking

I guess this is another reason that the England way of playing is gettng such support, they go out in every match to win whereas Australia are playing now not to lose and applying whatever means is necessary including wasting time.

Makes me think that the best option may be to declare at lunch so as Australia cannot kill off more time in the day.

There is certainly only one team out there playing the sort of cricket that the paying public wants to watch. Shocking from Australia.

It really is time for the over rate to be assessed at the end of each day with the sanction of runs being deducted being available when time wasting was the clear intention.

I agree, the paltry fines and withholding of match fees isn't working so they need to get strict and invoke proper penalties. Not holding out any hope though as T20 are meant to have limits and if you don't meet them you get fielding restrictions but these are rarely implemented

Perhaps the TV companies should withhold money from the rights if not enough ‘product’ (I.e.overs) is delivered, also ticket money refunds on the same basis. Hit the authorities in their pocket and they would quickly change the rules.

Totally agree. A sanction which may lead to the loss of a match is going to have far more impact than a paltry financial penalty.

Genuinely frustrating to see Australia retain the Ashes when, with the exception of the odd hour when we had brain farts, England have been the better side.

Should have won the first Test, shouldn’t have lost the second, and were battering Australia in the fourth. And here we are, 1-2 down.

I’ll bet Stokes and Co are kicking themselves.
