Flag in, out or tended all work in our groups. Tended is rare, but available to and by any one of us. Refusal would raise eyebrows and bring adverse comments about group norms.
yesDo you even see the professional players having the flag tended these days?
Yep - regularlyDo you even see the professional players having the flag tended these days?
That means the pointless practice will carry on then.Yep - regularly
Why is it “pointless”That means the pointless practice will carry on then.
The person (continually) asking for it to be tended might be even less popular. When I come off the course I hope my PPs think I'm a nice guy to spend 4 hours with. Refusing to tend the flag when asked isn't going to make them think that, in fact quite likely the opposite.
That would apply to many a thread, but post counts have to be increased for someMaybe it’s the discussion that is “pointless”?

I remember reading Dave Pelz’s book where he quoted the stat that only 50% of 6 foot putts were holed on the pga tour.
So, now you you are allowed to leave the flag in, why would anyone want it tended?
A long putt is likely to end up with a better result with the flag left in.
Probably, but they have a caddie payed to do everything for them.Do you even see the professional players having the flag tended these days?
Got to take it out. A rules person will be along shortly to have a thrombo at you.I would have no problem tending the flag if asked. I would however need clarification on what action was to be taken upon the ball reaching the hole, flag to be left in, or flag to be taken out.
Wouldn't want to get it wrong.
Shaking hands is cool. Walking away from the person while ostentatiously using your hand sanitizer is even cooler. It's like everything in life we do it "because it's always been done this way" and it will just go on like this for years
During COVID hand shakes left. Tim vine said can we ban them forever. They date back from medieval times where a knight would shake hands as it was their sword wielding hand so was to show you won't reach for your weapon.
Soon as COVID ended the handshake returned "because it's how we always do things"
I'm very much championing the post round fist pump , no issues with a handshake if someone goes for it . Much like attending the flag
