Signing in to a comp

When we enter a competition on club V1 when it becomes available for booking we automatically have the entry fee deducted at that point in time of our members card. That money is only refundable if the booking is cancelled before the draw is made unless the handicap secretary is notified subsequently for illness etc. All our competitions have a pre-requisite to sign in via PSI on the day before the tee time. Failure to do so will result in a DQ even though payment has been made. Subsequent attempts to enter after the tee time has passed (i.e.via the mobile app) will still result in a DQ

Not the best arrangement, I'd suggest, as the Pro may have to go away in an emergency or the player may just completely forget to collect the card & have to use another from his bag. At our place, being @signed in to the Comp' is when you've signed-in via the software & have paid your entry fee.

I never said it was the beat arrangement was merely trying to explain the posters point at which players had signed in at their club. Many clubs have we more than one member of staff in the pro shop so personally don't see a big problem, and it would have been the way most clubs operated before tech was available.

We have CV1 as well. Our comps are set up so that you can enter your name on the bookings sheet, but payment is only taken when you actually sign in electronically on the day.
You can sign in via HDID, or use the PSI at the club.
Only issues we have had is when someone tries to sign in with no money on their account, and the pro isnt there to sort it out. But these are rare occurrences.

I’m sure someone would man the pro shop!

But yes there are cards in the clubhouse for when the shop is shut.

This is us. There are only a few comps a year where we have to pick up a card.
For most normal weekly comps there is no need to even go in the clubhouse. It’s all done on V1.

We sign in on the day. If they dont play, they get a Penalty Score.

What is obvious from all postings, is that there are a myriad number of ways to sign in within different Terms of Competition. How competitions “sign in“ is carried out, depends on the many variables of how each club is administered.

The key element is that the Terms are clear and competitors comply with the Terms.

WE use IG and everything is virtually automatic.
2 types of comp
Compulsory - if you want to play during the comp hours you have to be in it, all fees taken from your account when when booking the tee slot
Optional - book a tee slot (in advance if wanted). Enter the comp on the day via teh PSI or APP fees automatically taken from your account
Both instances print label for the card next to the PSI screens.
The fact you are playing must be confirmed on the PSI on the day of the comp.

Apologies if its been said i havent read all the replys. If player or someone else forgot to sign the player in , it should not be possible to enter a score at the end of the round, this player was in second group ? its at this time it should be reported to the comp sec, or who ever is in charge should be notified , and posting of final result be delayed , this would mean the player, the comp sec or other person in charge and the marker are now aware there is an issue in case of any dispute
If u didnt report it in time its ur own fault .

Just to give you a bit of an update on this one.

The commitee met yesterday and have decided to null and void the comp but all round still count for handicap purposes. The named trophy will be schedule for June.

They have now implemented new rules that payment and sign in must be made before commencement of the round. Failure to do so will be a DQ

Surprised to read that an anomaly with a single player score leading to 39 other players having their comp placing scrapped (& comp postponed)

It seems to be the easy option rather than DQ the individual who didn't sign in or just leave it as it was and bring in terms of competition from now that have to be adhered to

Agree, the committee have bottled it a bit imo. Glad to see they have sorted out the anomaly though and hopefully will all be sorted going forward
