Random Irritations

20th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks, usually we just get each other a card and go for a meal, I’ve got a sneaky feeling I need to take this one a bit more seriously 🤔🤣
If she says don’t worry about it! Do the opposite Worry about it a lot as in the famous words of Admiral Ackbar “it’s a trap”

It's the rapid passing of time that gets me about Christmas. We put our decorations up early December but it feels like we only did it a fortnight ago.

I do a lot of motorway driving and notice this a lot.
The amount of people sitting in the middle lane driving at around 55mph astonishes me.
They then have people going passed them on both the inside and outside which seems to make them more nervous.
There are also some who look perfectly comfortable cruising in the middle lane, almost as if they think it's the right thing to do....

I still maintain there should be a motorway test, appreciate it's a pain for some due to location but it needs to be done.

As a kid in the 1960s I remember "begging" for penny-for-the-guy and carol singing. But any money was for charity or local community events.
But only ever lived in fairly close knit neighbourhoods where there were few, if any, strangers.
Everyone walked to primary school and parents could easily recognise other parents and their children.
These were not "the-good-old-days" but community life was different from what I perceive today. I'm not aware of quite the same sense of community these days.
I’m guessing that all the children lived in our road or one or two neighbouring ones, and that children who didn’t live in these two or three roads were going round with children and parents who did.

A man of God wouldn't you know. Stood in the pulpit telling his flock how to live their lives or damnation awaits. While he's spreading hatred at will
Aside…I’ve never had a minister preaching hell and damnation (or I can’t remember it in such terms)…there is common misunderstanding and ignorance about Christian denominations, and that they can vary significantly in their theology and liturgical interpretations on many matters.

I think a test would be a good idea.
Maybe you don’t have to pass it to be able to drive but to use the motorway.
I see a lot of people I think I bet you see a lot of accidents in your rear view mirror

I’ve just received a slap! Had lunch with friends during which I said, “we’ve been happily married 20 years this year.” Mrs said, “it’s 32 years on Dec 22nd.”

My reply being, “I’m on about being happily married.” = slap!

I genuinely don’t enjoy Christmas and it’s a joke in our house I am a combination of Scrooge and the grinch because I hate spending money on pointless tat and I hate the enforced fun aspect of having to see people I can’t stand 🤣

So the fact it’s getting earlier every year grates on me and kids don’t appreciate it as much because of by the time it comes round they have no interest in the festivities they just care what haul they got in presents.
So don’t 😉

And as much as you might feel you can’t stand someone, it’s worth reflecting on how you’d feel if all of a sudden they weren’t there, especially if your last feelings towards them were negative.🤔

I don’t 😊

I am not a sentimental person I only cut people out of my life if it’s deserved, contrary to what may come across in some of what has been said I’m also not a negative person so if I can’t stand someone there’s been a very valid reason for it. Once I’ve reached that point I simply move on and don’t concern myself with them again. I’ve experienced it when they’re suddenly no longer there with that last interaction being a negative one I certainly don’t need to reflect on it because we go to that situation for a reason and their passing does not change what occurred or forgive what went before. I’ve not lost an ounce of sleep over it or them and don’t even think about them. Im a very open and honest person with myself and others about how I feel and what I allow to impact my life and loved ones. Life is to short to waste on negative people and to allow them to having any impact on my life or family, I simply don’t let other’s opinions that bother me or how I go about my life. So when it comes to Christmas I simply won’t go and see those people I can’t stand , my wife and family understand my views and respect my choices they’re free to do what they want.
👍🏻

Won't do any good. Passing a test is one thing, ignoring the rules after you pass is what people do unless they have to worry about "getting caught". How many cars don't bother to signal before they turn? How many cars tailgate? etc etc. I can remember (cough...cough....cough) back to the 80's and I was in the passenger seat of a friend and he got pulled over because he spent too much time in the middle lane. That I know of it doesn't happen any more.

BBC Panorama. Wow!! Clearly obvious bias has been evident for years but this goes way beyond what i could have imagined and has now completely ruined their credibility. Gobsmacked

Which episode?
They have been found out doing a hatchet job on King Don.
From Google AI…

Panorama on Donald Trump: An internal BBC report, according to recent news articles, highlighted "alarming concerns" that a Panorama documentary about Donald Trump "materially misled viewers" by splicing together clips from different parts of a speech to create a false impression that he incited the Capitol Hill riots.

Edit: Found it, naughty naughty…

It’s not just Panorama. I have grave reservations about the tactics used by a lot of production companies who are responsible for some of these documentaries, especially those of the undercover variety.

I worked with two police officers who were “caught” in an undercover whistleblowing documentary screened several years ago. The “journalist”, and I use the word grudgingly, was proved to have used the most outrageous tactics to capture snippets of footage which, when glued together by a creative producer, showed those involved in an appalling light. They acted as agent provocateur in the worst possible way, and subsequent independent investigations totally undermined the claims made.

No, but it’s there in the Christian religion. Nowadays it’s not emphasised, the impression given that most if not all will go to heaven. Looked at fairly and according to the N testament though, and it’s a most conditional religion.
