Random Irritations

My watch lives permanently in cinema mode so all msg, calls and notifications are silenced. Screen is set to off and only comes alight when wrist is tilted to view the time etc. when then use it for exercise or those other activities I mentioned the i take it out of cinema mode just for the app that’s being used to track. Works perfectly for me in that way , plus my phones always permanently on silent mode as just lighting up with notifications rather than any annoying beeps or vibrations.

Many would say what’s the point but it works for me 🤷🏼

My last smartwatch died about 2 months ago, thankfully not on my wrist when the back ‘popped.’ No big thing, I guess it was the battery that gave out.

It’s primary use(s) for me revolved around health. Heart rate, BP and step count. And as my phone lives in my bowls bag a lot of the time, it was good for alerting to calls & messages.

It will be replaced in the next few weeks - I’m currently looking at what extra facilities have been added, one being how accurate blood glucose readings are as I’m well into pre-diabetes now.

Getting my bi-weekly call from Virgin Media to try to give sell me something. My latest tactic is get in first and tell them about the long term contracts I have with other media and phone providers. As they say bye, I ask them if they would like to reduce the price of my broadband, sadly they always decline.

I'm very polite and always finish with a heartfelt "speak to you soon".

That must throw them out as they always work to a pre-rehearsed script.

Sky is cutting 600 staff from their UK support team.
Sky plans to cut 600 UK roles as it trims tech team after new launches
I know Sky can be a real pain to deal with at times, but when I've eventually got through to their support team, I've tended to find them pretty good, personable and helpful.
My last experience of trying to get hold of anyone in Sky Customer Support was an absolute PITA as they keep returning you back to their chatbot which is utterly and totally useless and frustrating.
Automation and AI may all be well and good, but I don't believe you can beat that direct contact with people.

AI bots are the pain you seem to have to get through before you get to speak to a person. The person that will actually resolve the problem .

Sadly, that will lead to a decline in service as you spend longer on hold to speak to a human or just get caught in a spiral of Bot chat, getting annoyed that the option you want isn't an available option 🤬

I really don't think the companies realise how offputting this is to some people who will just give up and go somewhere else where they can talk to a real person.

"I'm thinking of leaving" usually gets you to a human fairly promptly.
When Google and Apple's AI is quick to let you know, "I'm sorry about that. I'm new technology and I'm still learning," it doesn't inspire me that the lesser companies' bots will be very accurate or efficient.

Think I’d prefer to talk to a AI bot than the idiots Virgin employ 😬

appears it’s a week of injuries for me this week! First slicing my fingers open Saturday which have managed to reopen the gashes at work today! So I’ve now superglued them and taped them with 3 layers of Zinc tape.

But doing some DB press in the gym today and an idiot decided to bump into my bench half way through a press causing me to slip to one side and my right shoulder going sideways (the wrong way)whilst holding a 40kg DB which feels like something has now pulled! Not even so much as an apology of acknowledgment! Couldn’t even get a 10kg one up afterwards. So hopefully a few days rest means I can still play golf Thursday and have my ball fitting Friday!

I hate people 😡

Wasn’t a skinny looking guy with a big beard, blue overalls and a Mop was it? 😆

missis T went to the gym a few years back and goes to step on a running machine. As she stepped on she went head over tit. A Polish guy had used the machine and just jumped off without stopping it as he didn’t know how. So Missis T is lying there on her back more shook up than anything else. Next thing a woman copper steps up to see if she is ok. She looks down and says “bloody hell mum I might of known it was you”. Yup it was our daughter.
Turns out the Gym was giving out free day passes to its member and some of the Polish guys were giving the passes to their mates without showing them how to use the equipment safely. The gym chain in a short period of time had a few near misses reported so they stopped the free day tickets.

and this helped missis T how? Hopefully she recovered quickly with no permanent damage.
As a Canadian ice hockey coach used to say, "You can't fix stupid."

Frost on the back window of my car too this morning.
Ahhh, this is where the house we bought a year ago comes into it's glory. £125k worth of repairs later (house needed a lot of help) I park inside the double-double garage. First thing I did was clean up the garage and put a nice auto opening door so I could just drive in. Not going to leave this house until I'm old (er) and decrepit......or unless Farage throws me out for being a Indefinite Leave to Remain retired migrant. Grrrrr
