Then for our guy Olly to get zero votes from the worldwide audience (no-one else got zero) just stinks. He was smiling but must feel humiliated - are we that disliked by RoW that not one vote can be mustered for us out of thousands cast? It would appear so. The show is tripe and worth not a glittery button, but that vote signifies something worrying about how we are perceived as a country.

Sam Ryder came second in the year Ukraine were always going to win. We can do well with the right song, right singer. He broke the theory of us being disliked for the sake of it.

I didn't watch last night but by chance I did see our guy singing, in between watching Equaliser 3 and some other Netflix series. The song was decent but his voice was weak, the staging was soft porn. Last year the UK woman sang a whiney song with minimal onstage performance. If we don't get the basics of the contest right, we won't do well

There are 5 core countries that pay for the show. We are one, hence why we never have to qualify. We don't have to, one for the BBC to answer.

This may be very un PC but I watched for a while with the BSL switched on. It was downright hilarious as they did some weird sexy dance as they signed!!

Eurovision has largely become a big Pride event but I think that performance tipped over a little too far. As you say, closer to a gay cabaret club than family entertainment. He should have toned that down a bit.
