Nor should they be able to. This forum is meant to be welcoming, not aggressive or unpleasant. If anyone wants that, find it elsewhere. If that is too sanitised for people, again, people can go elsewhere.

I guess there are different interpretations of over moderation. People know that anything contentious on here will result in being booted off. That's over moderation in my book, just because you don't get many posts reported doesn't mean people can post whatever they want.

So pretty much missing the entire point of my post, then, that being mental health.

And as for people knowing they get booted off for anything contentious that is, with the greatest respect, incorrect. If you acquaint yourself with the forum guidelines you’ll see when moderation is applied. The moderating team have a framework within which we work and it allows considerable scope for members to post free from censure. If you want examples of contentious, the forum is absolutely littered with such comments, and those posting them are, in the main, still here, and are integral members of the forum.

I would add that discussion of moderation and moderator’s decisions is not really permissible. I’m happy to have this brief exchange as I have answered a specific comment (rather than moderating it ), but would ask please that a line is now drawn under it.

I mentioned the other day about a PP who was struggling with retirement. A forumer suggested he could and should see a GP because he could be depressed. I never gave it a moments thought, but that’s the forum at its very very best when someone has actually read and digested my post. And posted with a positive advisory post.
Re the forum rules, I have not read them. But I would imagine they go along the lines of “ don’t be a ***, and don’t type something you would not say to someone’s face”. It’s well, common sense. However as the old saying goes. “Common sense ain’t that common”.

I always find that as soon as someone gets “ personal” when in a discusion / argument with someone on the forum. They have actually lost the discussion / argument.
I mentioned the other day about a PP who was struggling with retirement. A forumer suggested he could and should see a GP because he could be depressed. I never gave it a moments thought, but that’s the forum at its very very best when someone has actually read and digested my post. And posted with a positive advisory post.
Re the forum rules, I have not read them. But I would imagine they go along the lines of “ don’t be a ***, and don’t type something you would not say to someone’s face”. It’s well, common sense. However as the old saying goes. “Common sense ain’t that common”.

To be fair, on many of the large, multi-lane roundabouts, drivers stray out of their lane because they're going to fast to follow the lines and stay in it...
Sadly, if they drove at the right speed to enable lane discipline, they'd get chewed up and spat out.....
Such is life....

Sometimes I find it worse on little ones - two lane entry , right lane to go right , left to go left and straight on

How many remarks do you read and think, "If you were sat with that person having a coffee or a beer or wine would you really be so antagonistic, derisory, derogatory, reactionary or just plain rude?
Anonymity is so easily abused.
If you see,
"So what youre saying is...."
"So, therefore, you admit.."
ask yourself if its that important what that stranger wants to "prove" about you.

When did the ubiquitous "reaching out to" replace talking to?
I put a fair, but unflattering, review on Tripadvisor tonight about a poor experience in a nearby pub.
The landlord replied to all bad reviews with a bog standard "If you would kindly reach out to us to discuss this further....."
A company wrote to me recently, after several, deliberate, protracted unanswered replies regarding a request for an explanation by opening with "Hi, Mr.., we are reaching out to you...."

I simply replied "Please stop "reaching out" to me and just answer me!"

Not you obviously but my linked irritation is drivers that expect/assume other drivers will have lane discipline on roundabouts and are surprised when it isn't followed
