Got home today to find a letter had been delivered from DWP, telling me about the changes to the Winter Fuel Allowance.
Presumably they have sent this letter to over 10 million pensioner households - at some considerable cost.
I guess the DWP thinks there are pensioners who haven't heard about these changes(!).
They must have been using last year's allowance to pay for a holiday on Mars.

Did you notice that nowhere in the letter does it say "you're not getting it anymore ... "

To be fair they sent me and my wife letters about the EV tax change from April

Of course every ev driver under the sun knows about the changes

It's just a legal requirement/ waste of paper

I was told, many moons ago, that when your GP asks how many units of alcohol you drink each week, they double it. So the best answer is "About half as much as you drink".

I remember when going for a pre at a hospital and the nurses face when I replied about 40+ a week. I must have been the first person to answer truthfully she had interviewed.

However in our ongoing discussion it turned out their charts had wine at 8% (nearly half the unit value of what I drank at the time)

I do agree it’s only “some”, but the percentage is far too high IMHO
