Random Irritations

I enjoy the silly little Instagram videos of the fore brothers and the maverick mum (and ones like this) I do find it irritating when they start doing advert videos. Understand why they do but the funny videos feel so natural but the ads are like when happy Gilmore did the subway ad

When visiting the forum I occasionally get the message "Golf Monthly would like to enable push notifications". When I dismiss the message it pops up some options, and I click on "never ask again". So why does it ask again a few days later? 😤

Trying to sell something on Facebook Market place for the first time.
There's a guy who claims to be interested in my item who wants to send a courier to pick it up and pay me cash.
He says he also needs my name, address, phone number, email address and then asks me how much the item is!
Well, the price is on the advert.
I feel very suspicious and am currently ignoring him.
I'm certainly not about to give him all my details.

Definitely not. If it sounds dodgy it probably is

100% a scam. Block and report.

Yeah that’s a scam

We’ve never been before so couple of months back we booked a few days in Rome - arriving 14th May - with a guided tour of Vatican City inc. Sistine Chapel booked for the 15th. Staying close to the Vatican we have been really looking forward to it.

Then today the Pope goes and dies. Conclave to elect new Pope must start between 6th and 12th May - and on average takes 3 days…brilliant just brilliant. Has to be odds on our tour getting cancelled. Rome will be rammed…and cynic that I am I am waiting for our accommodation to be in touch telling us of an admin error that means we must rebook…at whatever the cost now is even if it’s still available - maybe i am just too cynical and all will be good. But I doubt it. It’s almost funny if it wasn’t rather sad - our trip to Rome knackered by the Pope dying..🙄

My goodness! I am not Catholic, but the Pope’s passing is a massive and sad event for hundreds of millions of people. I’m sure you can either go ahead or just rearrange.
Pope Francis seemed like a lovely man to me. RIP.

It is - and as I said a sad event even for those not of the Catholic denomination - and as a random irritation you know I'm expressing it a bit tongue in cheek...but all those years thinking about a trip to Rome and when we organize one the pontiff decides he's done his bit. We'll still go to Rome - but I'm doubting that we'll get into the Sistine Chapel as I believe that it's used for the Conclave.

Agree 100%. Not catholic, not religious in fact, but he really did seem a man of the people and the kind of warm-hearted spirit you'd hope from a man in his position. Very sad at his passing. BBC had a programme about him last night which I plan to watch today.

Even tongue in cheek it's a bit shocking to read your post...especially from you to be honest.

The Sistine chapel was a bit of a Mona Lisa for me. Big expectations, quite a let down. You expect a quiet, contemplative area. In reality you are packed in like sardines, there is a constant level of chatter, followed by loud shushing from the staff every 20-30 seconds or so. You try to see the area you want, can you get anywhere near it?

I appreciate it is something you might want to see but don't worry too much about not catching it

I suspect it will be quite an interesting time to be in Rome. The place will be buzzing with activity.

As per the above. Stuck in the middle of the ‘sardines’ with no choice other than to be swept(shuffled) along in the mob.

As a contrast, we went to a little square in the Jewish quarter. There’s a little brass plaque on the wall detailing when over 1,000 Jews were rounded up and sent to a concentration camp. That left more of a stamp on me than a pretty ceiling I barely had time to glance at.

Loved Rome, and have a great list of memories. We were there for 10 days for Mrs H’s 50th and, I think, did it justice. I guess the big test is would I go back? Absolutely yes.
