Random Irritations

Purchased a couple of bits n bobs from Amazon on Tuesday..
One could have been delivered on Wednesday, the other today..
I ticked the box to have them both delivered today, you know, saving trips, saving costs etc etc....
They both arrived today...half an hour apart...on different vans.....
That worked then....

Maybe they came from different places?
I’m not sure how it works.

My main irritation with Amazon deliveries is that most drivers just dump the parcel on the doorstep and walk away without even bothering to ring the doorbell.
Today they left a 5TB hard disk on my doorstep (and the email confirming delivery said it had been posted through the letterbox). Not something I want to have left lying about for anyone to help themselves to. A few weeks ago I had an online chat with their customer service to register my displeasure, but of course nothing has changed.

About 50% of our Seniors Group still continue to 'Replay All' to emails simply (eg) showing the start time for next weeks roll up saying 'OK'. Even though the coordinator reminds the monthly in the newsletter
I'm Team Sec for our Seniors team.
D-List is 100+
Active playing response list about 30.
When necessary I end every message with reply to me personally @ ....... com. NOT the whole Seniors list
Simple, yeah?
🤔😖

One of my delivery options is a locker in the car park of my local pub, a few minutes away. It's my first choice for anything that won't fit through the letter box. A few minutes more is a convenience store that takes deliveries.
I've never had an issue with Amazon themselves, only DPD or Yodel.

Lockers are by far the best option and I suspect the future. I can see future deliveries being option A to a locker and B to a home at a higher price. It's way more efficient to deliver to lockers, no lost packages, no missed deliveries. We use this option whenever it's possible. It's irritating when this isn't available.

Lockers, I’ve only ever known them as dropboxes, have been around for donkey’s years. Typically, they are used by field service engineers who work remotely from the company’s offices. They’re often located at the back of petrol stations, fire & ambulance stations or any other business that was convenient and willing to house them.

When I was still on the tools, 25 years ago, mine was located at the back of a TGI Fridays.

Once upon a time access was with a key but the new-ish smart lockers are via a passcode. You receive a text message which will give the locker number and the passcode. I used to receive around 3 drops a week, the locker lying unused for the other days. The smart lockers allow multiple users for the same locker. Price per user drops but the revenue received by the owner has gone up on a pay per use.

@Hobbit yes, there's nothing new is there 😄. Next time you are back in the UK, look at the petrol stations and supermarkets in particular. They will all have these lockers outside or inside them. They are all over. The Morrisons near me has them for 3 different carriers/ shippers now. Great idea.

Waiting 45mins for a click n collect on the way to a caravan for the weekend.... With an impatient spaniel whining in the back seats.. 😡... Normally a pull into space and away within 5 mins...

I also thought they were handy for stuff you didnt want OH to know about (no, nothing naughty!) until Alexa started blabbing her announcements all over the house! 🫣

It's over now, but a major irritation was Lord Shergar's "witty", so obviously scripted, retorts in The Apprentice. Chronically lame yet got laughs from all in the room (or else!).
I used to slap my thigh with an exaggerated Mrs Brown cackle just to push OH's button. Never failed 😆

You wait till someone offers to send a courier to collect it! :-)
Ok. This has just happened. Been on Facebook barely 4 days and it's already doing my head in.
Only joined to shift a few low value items and get to know it so I can advertise for work next year. Might not make it to the end of the week.

Idiot delivery drivers parking across the drive as we want to get out and then getting narky when we ask them to move. No I am not going to wait for you to unpack and deliver when you are technically in my property and stopping me going out and about

Watching wreck it Ralph 2 with eldest

Ralph breaks the internet

Always annoys me Disney missing an open goal .. surely it should be named

Ralph "wrecks" the internet

People thinking that the best way to celebrate VE Day is to have pubs open for 2 hours longer - on a Thursday! Surely they should have swapped the bank holiday to the Friday and had an extra one on Thursday for VE Day itself.
