Two observations Phil.

First, a meet arranged elsewhere is not really a GM meet, and whilst I didn’t subscribe to the view that it shouldn’t have been discussed here before or after the event, I can understand why some weren’t happy.

And second, it’s not yet 10am on a Monday morning and there are already 11 active threads in The Lounge. So plenty of golf chat if people care to look.
Can you really call it GM if like mentioned many times before they’ve stepped back from this place in a big way.

And it obviously was a GM meet if this is the place where we all met.

Can this thread please be locked while the reminder is sent that this thread isn't for debating people's opinions. It's for people to throw up a random irritation without anything other than agreement.
Or at least that's what I always believed it was supposed to be.
If I'm wrong, I'll just unwatch it and leave you all to it. And it'll be another thread I'll miss out on because of people's insistence on their voice needing to be loudest.

For years people have attended other people’s courses and posted it on the forum ,that’s includes opens , invitational days

It was the reaction of a small few that gave a perfect example of why some won’t offer invites on here anymore

The point I was making is that those sort of meets or gatherings are great and used to be open to all on here by the organisers - that’s stopped and it’s not because of Covid or the price etc

I think a lot of people who say the forum has got worse are just dismayed that a younger crowd joins and momentum shifts towards the more modern golfer who's actually aware of social issues and has diluted the typical old boy's club of grumpy old white blokes. Same thing that's (hopefully) happening in golf clubs across the country.
Wow just wow

More aware he says as dropping in a casually racist and ageist dig. The utter irony

Covid isn’t the main reason why people aren’t sorting out meets - the meets are still happening but being arranged elsewhere now

People didn’t want to start what’s app groups to sort out meets or even to talk about golf stuff but it’s happened because of the way the forum has gone.

You just need to look at the reaction from some when a bunch of forumers went on a trip and put pics up here.

At the end of the day this is a golf forum - but the golf talk is now seem secondary
Phil, I think the issue with the woodhall spa trip wasn’t the photos as everyone’s knows games get arranged outside the forum but it was Dave’s attempted humor of arranging another trip to then say it was a joke

This is now Phil's equivalent of "the fishing trip" in Gavin & Stacey!!😄

When it comes to “false meets” etc I’m not going to disagree that it wasn’t a good look and humour gone wrong , wasn’t a fine moment

Going to a wedding on Saturday (youngest daughters) and consuming a bottle of white with the food, and a shed load of beers in the evening.
Why can't they just mix nicely and leave me in peace..;)

The number of water leaks around here right now...there's 2 within 400 yards of the house.....
Water pouring down the roads, ripping up tarmac and creating potholes..both been running for at least 3 weeks....
And on that front...during Covid loc, down the main A41 into town was completely resurfaced..it was a dream to drive on.
Late last year there were water main replacement works all along the stretch
The repairs make it feel like you're driving on a ploughed field.....

Back in the early 90's Newcastle University used to stick an A4 notice on the drivers side window of cars that were parked on site in places they shouldn't have been. The glue on those was phenomenal. You could see remnants on windows of cars all over the city where people had tried and failed to scrape them off. Evil things but highly effective in getting the message across. People rarely fell foul twice, they learnt.

I don't see it anymore, probably not allowed to stick something that wicked on a screen now, but I often thing of those being used in scenarios as you have described. Revenge if nothing else 😂
I can confirm that they were doing that as early as 1979.
There were various methods for removing them. One method involved setting fire to them!

They will repair them, as is their job, and put your bill to pay for their "investments "
