Fair enough, I was only giving my perspective.
Just look at the young lads at your golf club…some of them will be reading, hearing and taking on board thoughts about the place of girls in society, and how they can be treated, thoughts that would shock and horrify you. You might try asking some you know well what they think of Andrew Tate.🫣

The power of influencers these days is frightening. People are starting to believe what they read or watch on social media and not from the regular news outlets. A lot now only get their news from Social Media. Say what you like about some of the news broadcasters, but at least they are accountable to degree. Influencers on Social Media aren't regulated to anything like the same amount, if at all. The ignorance of some of the people who follow them is frightening.

He is a dangerous man, spouting horrible views and living an exotic lifestyle. He is attractive to some young teens. I had never heard of him until he had been arrested recently but listening to teachers on the news they have to deal with his outpourings as kids copy him. He wont come across your radar, nor mine, but he impacts others so it is important for some to know who he is so that they can counteract his statements.

He should have been locked in a deep dark hole and left there.

Both my kids schools have sent emails to parents warning us about his content.

This.

Considering the amount of knowledge available at your fingertips these days, the algorithms that all Social media and other outlets use mean that its increasingly easy to find yourself in an echo chamber and only having the same perspectives readily provided to you.

To those that are impressionable, unaware of this or unable to use critical thinking this is an absolute minefield. No longer are you having to seek this stuff out, one click on an article or Social media page and all of a sudden the same kind of content is rammed down your throat.

Its a massive worry in an increasingly divided society when these abhorrent views and mindsets are glorified and perpetualised without often being challenged.

Access to information and "instruction" has never been easier than it is now. The recent "Thank goodness for YouTube" thread highlights some of the positive uses that this access brings.

Sadly, there is a huge amount that's wrong, ignorant and/or just dangerous. And it's not just information. Some of the "instructional / how-to" videos on YouTube genuinely frighten me. Especially in the woodworking/creative space, some of the practices are just idiotic, but make it look normal/safe.

Even more sad is that these people are monitising these videos, effectively making them a business but clearly with none of the responsibilities that this brings.

It amazes me that some of these people still have fingers, let alone hands with the way they use some pretty (read VERY) dangerous machinery.

But it's all entertainment, right?

You’ve seen it on here. Rather than pay a suitable person, it’s the “get the how to from YouTube for free, and do it yourself” mindset.
But then if you don’t go along with that thinking you’re described as “dinosaur” or any other disparaging term you can think of.

I have no issue with anyone wanting to learn (understandable if the driver is saving some cash). The issue isn't people wanting to learn or do it themselves, it's the dangerous "instruction" that's allowed to be given.

It doesn’t help that the most powerful man in the world for four years was advocating that we listen to these sorts of people. Yes I mean the former US president who is now up to his waist in court cases trying to stay out of prison for his continual web of lies.
