I'm a bit time poor because of family commitments so whilst I love a good ale and a post round debrief it's usually only when I'm on a late shift and we play in the morning that I end up having a all day breakfast before nipping off to work .

Less than £50 for me. Would like to have the time to spend more but I genuinely don't.... I know, I should be ashamed...:(

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

Very little ( less than a ton); given that the money goes to the hotel group rather than our club, it causes me no guilt what so ever.

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

£300 to £500, I probably spend on average £10 a week during the season.

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

I had this horrible thought the other day when working out what I actually spend on golf, not to be confused with what the wife thinks I spend on golf! £30 a month roughly for me. In my four ball we usually just take turns in buying lunch and a drinks. Add on the extra few rounds and taking my daughter up in the summer it soon adds up.

There's your first mistake right there buddy! Living in denial is much better :whoo:

I went for 300 - 500 but suspect I've under estimated. We renew subs at start of Jan and have to put £110 on the club card and I'm usually topping up by mid Feb. A round after each game, and a few Sunday lunches with my lady soon shifts the
£££s

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

Less than £50 for me and it may have been less than £25 to be honest... I know for some this makes me more evil than the devil himself but I joined to play golf not to have dinner 👹

Same for me,some times we also call for a Latte at Costa on the way home aswell.
Shoot me now.

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

I estimated at 200-300 but maybe slightly more. Include my wedding and that rockets to over £1500.

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

Easily spend more than £10 a week there. I enjoy the craic in our clubhouse and I think it's money well spent

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

I put £200-£300 but on reflection I probably easily spend £10 a week on average right through much of the year - so certainly £300-£500 and possibly £500+

I know this has been debated umpteen times but I still find it bizarre that people can go to the club, play golf then leave without stepping foot in the clubhouse. I get there in time for a cuppa and bacon roll before going out then a drink afterwards. It's all part of the experience for me.

Not so bizarre when you play at a muni and the "clubhouse" food is nothing at all to do with the club, the service is appalling - manager is a grumpy harridan with a face that looks like she sucks lemons every hour, and it rubs off on all the junior staff. After another "incident" with a mate of mine about 18 months ago, I decided never to spend money in there! Several of our society do just that too!

I'm happy that you have a nice positive experience when playing golf..:D

As I've said before, I have a fairly small window in which to play golf. I work nights, so drag myself out of bed at 10 (after going to bed at 5) to get to the course at 10:45. I tee off at 11 ish. I then have to pick the kids up from School at 3.

If the round is not unduly delayed, I have just enough time to get home, have a shower and get changed. If the round is delayed then it's not unheard of to find me walking off the course after only 15-16 holes. If visiting the Clubhouse was compulsory, I wouldn't play golf. Fortunately, it isn't....

That's fair enough, different circumstances for different people. But when your kids are grown up/you are retired or whatever, will you make use of the clubhouse facilities then?

over the last 35 years I've gone through phases of doing this, and even now there are occassions when necessity creates such a situation - and in all of this the issue of what's actually available hasn't affected me!

so for me it's not bizarre at all

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

I spend on drinks crisps nuts etc.

But not one penny will ever leave my pocket to the catering - inept, dirty, unwelcoming tosh. How he has still got a job is beyond my comprehension.
