That's fair enough, different circumstances for different people. But when your kids are grown up/you are retired or whatever, will you make use of the clubhouse facilities then?
Yes. I'd love to stop for a coffee after a round. If the food is good, then a nice steak and ale pie, with chips and gravy would be lovely. The club I'm joining next year has a nice restaurant upstairs. I'll hopefully be able to make use of that. Bring the Wife and Kids with me.

Re: Monthly poll 2: last year, how much did you spend on food & drink at your cl

I have put down £50-£100 for the odd coffee before a round and a drink after. As I have posted a few times, it could be much more if it were not for the rules. I do not want to go down the same old arguments about dress code etc and I am happy to abide by the rules as they stand and understand why they are there but the do reduce the amount that I spend in the club house. I play only at weekends and play early so as I can spend the rest of my day with my wife. After a round, my wife and I tend to go for lunch together. This money would be spent at the club as my wife would happily eat there if it were not for the ban on jeans. She lives in jeans at weekends, all smart ones not faded, ripped etc. She is not going to change into trousers or a dress simply to pop up the club for a spot of lunch and a drink. On that basis, the money I would spend is spent elsewhere.

I would also happily have a coffee and some breakfast before a round of golf but the kitchen does not open until 10.00 so that is out. I tend to get up there before most of my group and ,again, would happily sit there with a coffee and check emails, surf the net etc but, again, electronic devices are banned in the clubhouse so I only do that in the summer when I can sit outside. At my old club I would have a bacon sandwich and a coffee at the half way hut every round but they do not use the hut at my current club. It is only open for a buffet on captains day etc.

So, I spend £50-£100 but if circumstances were different I could easily spend 3, 4 or even 5 times that in a year.

I only play once a week but it is a coffee before tee off and a sandwich and a pot of tea after. Throw in a few Sunday lunches, quiz nights and other functions and it probably totals near to a grand for the year.

Well I am with arnieboy on this.
Every week Friday and Saturday game plus breakfast on Saturday pre game plus during the season, competition rounds say another three times a week, means up to five times a week at the club so even buying your partner a drink is £5 a round times five days is £25 per week plus catering and Prize giving night, New year bash, AGM, at least three socials per year - £1000 would not look at it!!
However my golf is very cheap, only circa £200 pa.
