I was a little surprised they didn't stop it when they gave up on owgr points. Maybe there was some commitment.
IMO be great if Chris Wood could have a blinder. Interesting seeing Arnaus giving it a go.
Surely anyone who is a 'who' would be fishing for a signing fee ?!?!

The qualification event was no doubt brought in to try and appease the OWGR decision makers, and as you point out, now that is not part of LIV's strategy it makes little sense to keep it going. We know the team captains don't want to have players forced upon them, but rather pick a player that they think will enhance the team - there are teams now that are sitting with open spaces that would have to take players that have come through qualification that they might not want - no doubt that is part of the reason the number of qualification spaces is down to the winner only this weekend, rather than the three we saw go through last year.
You only have to look at Chacarra who was mentioned a few days back - he finished in the open zone so can be resigned by a team with a slot, but nobody has taken him even though he is clearly a better player (and arguably a better prospect), than some of the relegated players, which leads you to think that he isn't the right sort of player and character for the team aspect of the game.
This has been discussed by multiple people over the last few days on SM, but one thing I do find strange is that the spot from the International Series doesn't go down to the highest placed non LIV contracted player - Niemanns win at the weekend saw him take the series with just 2 events played, Uhlein finished 2nd, with Ben Campbell the highest placed non LIV player - for me - he should have got promoted. Caitlin finished 4th but he showed that he had the levels to be a worthwhile LIV player in his appearances this year. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Caitlin offered a slot somewhere - which is essentially how the league should work with players who have shown they have the ability being invited and given an opportunity.
I'll enjoy watching the promotions event this weekend - there are actually some decent players in and amongst the field.

Wonder what the future is once GN goes
All the team stuff and franchises etc was all his idea and it’s near impossible to get any sort of meaningful revenue from 4 golfers trying to be a team
With a new CEO coming in will it be all change to a more traditional tour making any transition into the PGAT smoother

Among the rising stars are Santiago De La Fuente who won the 2024 Latin America Amateur Championship, 2024 European Amateur runner-up Max Kennedy and Luis Masaveu, a top 20-ranked amateur who recently turned professional. The lineup for LIV Golf Promotions also includes 23-year-old Fred Biondi, who was the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Individual Champion and finished runner-up in the PGATU rankings, only behind Swedish star Ludvig Aberg.
“Playing last year as an amateur was an incredible experience—competing for a spot to play against the best really motivated me and gave me a taste of what’s possible,” said Masaveu. “This year, coming back as a professional is an even bigger opportunity. I’m grateful for the chance to prove myself and build on everything I learned last year.”
The field also features 2016 European Ryder Cup player Chris Wood, and former top 50 players in the world and winners on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour such as Tom Lewis, Adri Arnaus and Martin Trainer.
“I’m really excited to play in the LIV Golf Promotions tournament. The golfing world is full of so many opportunities at the moment and this is one of the biggest,” said Wood. “I’m at a place in my career where I am exploring different opportunities, and I am so grateful to have these along with an open mind as to where it might take me.”
Additionally, former LIV Golf players Hudson Swafford (2024 Wild Card) and relegated players Branden Grace, Kalle Samooja, Scott Vincent and Kieran Vincent will try to secure their LIV Golf status for 2025. it’s not a surprise that people will give it a go at that level with the potential of decent money even without performing
But it’s hard to see where any further needle movers come from
Everything that happens in the future will be determined by what’s happening with any merger , it was very key that GN wasn’t involved in it and LIV is his idea

Nope, you still don't get it. If someone went through this whole thread, I don't recommend it, and counted the pro and anti posts, the anti would win 3 or 4 to 1, imo. Think about that.
If it is nonsensical, ignore it. I often see nonsense posted in threads and if it is that daft I don't reply because I think, 'well everyone can see this is daft, there is no point in keeping this going'. If you think LIV is that daft, ignore the posts.
Leave the thread to people who quite like LIV, yes, there are some out there.
