No I’m talking all tour golf

All tour golf is unsustainable right now

And once again - I’m not fan of the PGAT

And yes there will be people who won’t bother watching LIV because of the way it is and funded and yes people have been turned off from football etc

Unless you think less people watching tour golf is a good thing
I suspect the main reason people have turned off from football (IF they actually have) is because of how much it costs for Sky/Amazon…
Or maybe more are using dodgy sticks to watch it & obviously that won’t reflect in viewing figures 👍🏻

Do you think the Premier League business model is unsustainable?

The teams - if the teams go bust, what happens to the league?

Are the teams going bust ?

Please don’t even attempt to make “team comparisons” with LIV teams

Each major team makes upward of £600mil a year in revenue in football

The LiV “team” is just 4 players together with a name and a logo

There very little revenue can be gained from a golf team

The league or the teams ?

League makes around £5b a year revenue - huge media deals and sponsorship helps there

How much was LIVs revenue again - under £100mil
The Saudi’s pretty much have unlimited cash.
Doubt they even care about ever making a profit from LIV.
Just look at when they put the big boxing events on.
It’s all for show to the rest of the world.

I'm not trying to compare LIV teams to Premier League teams.

I'm pointing out facts - plenty of PL teams run at huge losses, the players get obscene amounts of money, the league has been operating like that for many, many years.

And you say there's very little revenue can gained from a golf team because it's a new concept - which you struggle to comprehend - I'm sure folks were the same when the IPL started.

LIV has the best player of this era, in Koepka (5 majors) a two-time major winner and one of the biggest current names in golf (esp for the emergent market age demographic) in Bryson, one of the most elite players of the last 5 yrs by any serious observer (and two-time major winner) in Jon Rahm, and one of the best players ever - and one of the two most dominant players in the last 20 years - and 6 time major winner in Mickelson

I think they are doing just fine….Finau isn’t a big loss. And they don’t ’need’ the likes of Sam Burns, Max Homa or Will Zalatoris 😂
Whilst I am in agreement with some of the above... To a degree.. I reckon LIV need as many of the players like Burns, Homa and Zalatoris as they can get.. The depth of quality in any field adds a lot to the enjoyment.
I'm not sure it would necessarily make more people watch it but it would help.

iPL ?

The same IPL that gains revenue from

Media deals
Huge stadiums and crowds they own
Huge sponsers

All which were in place when they started

As well as a massive captive audience that actually watch the sport

It was also a concept that was already in play and working within the UK and the main thing - in a team sport

LIV is 3 seasons now and still no major media deals and very little revenue incoming - there is a reason why PIF is desperate to get involved with DPT and PGAT

Wow my time machine works I've traveled back to 2022 to see live conversation about LIV

No wait just the same tired arguments going around and around.

Roll on April when people get to play more golf again

Glanced at the weather forecast for the weekend earlier - think Saturday and Sunday might be a write off...

They are probably happy to see him go.
The problem with no-namers is that from the LIV side they are just seen as filler, highlighting that they couldnt get top names. And from the players side, that they cannot make a name for themselves as golfers. They can make money, but with performance in the tournaments not taken seriously and golfwise essentially valueless, nobody can build a reputation there. Leaving LIV reliant on poaching players who have established themselves as top players by playing on the PGAT. So losing an unknown to a know name, even if one well past their prime, is an upgrade.

I’m fairly sure quite a big fuss was made when he signed, getting the #2 ranked amateur in the world was seen as a big deal.

I think the point made was that LIV were prepared to take in young players with potential as well as the older established players they were signing at the time. At one point Chacarra looked like he was transitioning into a solid player - 16th in his first season and a win of course - but his form has dropped away. Sergio and the management of the Fireballs obviously feel they can improve on him - be interesting to see who they bring in - I'd imagine they will want to go with a hispanic player to maintain that dynamic within the team.
