It’s not an issue if everyone gets some money, basically redistribution of it so everyone gets a share, even if the better ranked players get more, it’s just the fact they get nothing.

Could PGAT v LIV become a redundant contest with the as yet unnamed third contender tour entering the ring ? It could be the way out of the impasse. If no or less than a handful more of significant players go to LIV, and there is an exodus from the PGAT to a new US centred but global tour with the best of Europe and Asia, then both existing tours could end up as dead wood. LIV, marooned with what 10 or so high level players, 10 middling, and the rest laughable. PGAT as a Kornferry plus some PGAT players on the down - almost another LIV level field but with a full 140 players per tournament. There is a lot of money and golf interest in Asia, and that plus some European history and tradition, and the bulk of the remaining top 50 world players as the main draw, we could have a winner. 4 round tournaments. Cut. No teams or LOUD. An opportunity for US investors to gain golf entree but without the downside of Saudi association. Its an interesting one. Cantlay may indeed be as smart as he thinks if he can pull this off. It would be quite a blindsiding coup.

The money will play a massive part, 100% of the reason.

Just because there may be a few other things that he happens to like about LIV, they are in no way a reason why he moved to LIV. He may prefer to play in shorts. He might like a few other bits and pieces. He might like some of the courses they play. Of course that will be the case, I'm not saying that he despises every single aspect of LIV. However, all those reasons are irrelevant when it comes to why he signed for LIV. He signed 100% because of the money.

Rahm has clearly said he want to reach a new audience. He is tired of only the millions who watch him play PGAT, and n its more important that a couple of hundred thousands youtubers watch him.

I was listening to the Rick Shiels podcast about Rahm joining LIV last night and thought the debate about supporting a team was actually very interesting - and a great point made by Guy Charnock.

At present, the idea of supporting a golf team seems rather ludicrous. You can bet that the big name players (DJ, Brooks, Bryson, Rahm, Smith) will have fans supporting their teams by default because they just like a player on the team. What happens when a player moves teams (like Gooch) do you stick with the original team or move with your favorite player? How do they create links to teams to get people buying in to them? One example is geographically of course, UK Team, Aussie team etc.

Then Guy brought up F1. How do people choose a team in that? Because people do fully support teams and wear the merch but others like myself, the casual fan, just have a few drivers they like (UK guys for me). Is this model what LIV are going for?

Safe to say I don't think it ever becomes anything as tribal as football fans, but the team aspect is something they aren't letting go of and must believe down the line will be a success.

Rick and Sidekick have always articulated well the reasons, they, and nobody else really, is interested either in LIV individual wins, nor the team stuff. Its a common theme across such podcasters.

Is anyone aware of such commentators or podcasts that do advocate LIVs proposition as a good thing, interesting, watch, and believe teams has a future ?

Golf Digest view is that while LIV will fulfill its program for 2024, inlf a merger deal is done PIF/PGAT, then question mark for LIVs existance beyond that, and that full merger back into one unit more likely.

In LIV's plans, were it continue, are they dropping the individual element and making a team thing only? Sounds they way it is heading according to Bubba. Doesnt solve golf fundamentally being an individual sport, and not a team one issue, so sounds even worse an idea than the current hybrid team/individual.
