If they really want to make something out of those teams then they should do team’s competitions. 4 men scramble or something. Just don’t call 4 golfers who dress differently and play independent of each other a team because they wear the same hat.

But a scramble with that calibre of players, they could score nicely.
Imagine team scramble in round 1, then you take that score into the final 2 rounds.

I don't want to see a merger between LIV & the PGAT.
I'm quite happy for the 2 codes to stay completely separate & I'd also like to see the LIV players barred from all majors & the Ryder cup.
Others will come along & fill those gaps left by those who have gone to LIV.
Nobody is irreplaceable & LIV will never produce the prestige of the PGAT.
I don't watch LIV & I'd be quite happy for those players who have joined to be forgotten.

I think that Brandel talks a lot of sense.. he's right when he says that each tour has what the other wants. The PGAT has history, tradition, legacy, respect and values. LIV has money..

Oh and shorts and music, and money. It's desperate for legitimacy and is trying to buy that and OWGR.. with money. It's buying the best players.. with money. It doesn't make it better. it just has more money.

He’s right when he says if there is no merger LIV has won.

Hopefully there’s a resolution soon.

How’s that going to work financially?

A proper team concept that would be a disruptor, innovative, fresh, would be to have the four member of a team, actually play together as a team, and, NFL style, each play their specialism : you have a Driveman, an Approcher, a Shortie, and a Putterer. They can build the team to have the best all round effectiveness and mix of skills - as actual team sports do. Guys might feel at risk if they arent holding up their end, or McNeally would have teams fighting over him and he would be a star. Team sport. As Iarmen says, wearing the same hat is not what teamplay is about. If you want New Golf, and Team Golf, invent a team golf. Not golf, but with a bolt on team idea brought from other sports by people who dont understand golf, or probably even sport.

Big Tone Gone.

Wants to play a role is growing the game of golf and adding something new and fresh to tournament golf. Feels LIV is the way to do that, and golf has always suffered from being a singles game and needs to move on from that old tired old format. Really believes in the Saudi way of life and the good they are doing in the world.

It's the same when someone outbids another on Ebay.. it doesn't make them better, it just means they have more money.

I hope there is no resolution and LIV remains completely independent; no admission to PGAT, DPWT, Ryder Cup and OWGR; just the money-losing circus that they are destined for.

Brooks was on the Ryder cup team despite playing for Liv

In hindsight, Rahmbo looking less than personally disinterested with his line about Sergio being picked for the Ryder Cup just gone...
Getting in a pre-emptive "I have always been consistent on this. Remember back in 23 when for Marco Simone I..."... ?

The Final 20 players playing 36 holes tomorrow for 3 spots on the Liv Tour in 2024.

Jed Morgan & Laurie Canter trying to get back on the Tour.

Everyone else to get a life changing opportunity.

Shutout to English golfer Steve Lewton.
Been bouncing around grinding on the European and asian tours for years.
He was runner-up in the 2006 European Amateur behind Rory McIlroy.

@SwingsitlikeHogan are you trying to claim that Faldo was 'a great character' in his heyday 😳? He was a robotic, insular golfer, giving no sign of an character out on the course. Like Tiger, he went into his bubble, ignored everything and everyone around him.

Langer is in that list printed, hardly laugh a minute either.

Included in the current top 10, Mcilroy, Rahm, Hovland, Homa. Plenty of character and entertainment watching those guys.

There are always interesting golfers and dull golfers, throughout the eras. No era is more stand out than others on that front, unless only seen through the prism of fond memories.
All I am saying is that for some reason back then I was strongly engaged in watching whatever pro golf there was on tv. Maybe there wasnt that much, plus, and quite likely, my interest was there because of the success at the time of the Europeans.

Yikes. LIV still sinking very low to find players to fill the field.

my feelings exactly.
Sure a few of the current crop of top players have sold their souls, so what?
They will be replaced by up & coming players, who knows, there might be some real characters just waiting to break through & bring a breath of fresh air to the PGAT.
I say forget those who have defected & ban them from every PGAT event, the Majors & the Ryder Cup.

Great that they have created a qualification pathway but for me should be more than 3 places up and down.

Looking like filling the field with PGAT stars Aint gonna be a problem.

Well actually that's probably not true, there isn't enough places on liv for the PGAT players that want to come across.

Looks like world no 12 and 21 are next to go onto Rahms team.

How could they risk doing that? The LIV field is weak enough as it is, and there wasnt an array of top talent trying to qualify for it. If it let any more in of that level through that pathway, its credibility as a serious tour would, correctly, be even worse. The qualification is just a box ticking - we have an open entry mechanism - exercise. They dont want those guys. They want an need top golfers.

Who fills the spots on the PGAT & DP Tour at the start of new seasons? Pro’s trying to get back on the main tours and newbies coming up through the satellite tours like the Korn Ferry etc.

I did know the answer to your question.

The difference with LIV is that it doesnt have a weekly field of 140, so the good golfers in a LIV field are far fewer, nor does the PGAT have to go so far down the ranking to fill the field. Thus LIV has a far higher proportion of low ranking golfers at the business end of one of their events. If they went all the way to one man events, and let me in, I would probably win ! Would that make me a top golfer ?
