Sorry what does Keith Pelley have to do with Westwood joining LIV ?

Don’t you think there is a point there that Pepperall has made

“Professional golf used to be about playing well to earn money. (Still is for the most part to be fair) It’s not jealousy to point out how LIV is rewarding (in some instances) poor performance in a big way monetarily”

Westwood will earn a lot of money but it seems has been rubbish

I’m just wondering what Westwoods business has to do with Eddie Peps, little bit petty for me and stinks of envy.

Well. The reason Westwood doesn’t play no cut events on the DPWT anymore, is because Pelley banned him. So that has something to do with it, right?

Again, we’re going over old ground, but the DPWT would be more appealing if Sergio, Poults, Westwood, Kaymer, Pieters, Reed etc, etc, etc… we’re eligible to play.

Everybody who makes a cut is guaranteed a pay cheque right? So what’s the difference between, post cut golf and LIV golf, that suggests players on one tour will continue to try to win, but on LIV, they won’t?

It’s a totally hollow argument.
Its a very good argument. LIV golfers are very well paid for playing like drains. ET might pay, but you wont earn much justaking cuts. Wins matter. And they are the gateway to the PGAT. Aside from money, golfers do play for titles. History, prestige, national opens, etc. So that motivates them as well. But winning a LIV tourny doesnt exactly enhance their CVs. So they are just turning up to be paid. Sportsfans see through that.

Westwood left the ET to go and play on LIV knowing the consequences of it all - he can’t look to enhance his personal wealth and then the ET go - yeah no problems you go away and play rich events and pop back whenever you want

Instead of blaming Pelley - look inwards as well

Both as bad as each at the end of the day. Constant sniping and biting on social media - Westwood at times is as bad as anyone

And yet they encourage their players, no, they endorse their players to go and play on another tour where they can enhance their personal wealth, then welcome them back with open arms.

What’s the difference, why aren’t they banning PGAT players from returning to DPWT events?

Don’t the PGAT part own the ET ? Why would they ban players moving between the two main tours when it benefits them both

it benefits the PGAT. Meanwhile the DPWT is left devoid of many interesting and high profile events. So, what good did it do banning the LIV players?

None, and it’s only forced that tour and its parent tour to go in search of additional funding to stay afloat.

Which high profile events have gone ?

Most of the European players that went to LIV were mainly playing in the US anyway

It’s not like the ET is missing the players that badly

Do you not even see that the players must also take responsibility of their own actions

The consequences where there for them and they made their own conscious decisions

None of them were forced to go to LIV - they could have stayed on the ET playing events all over the world

My take from the weekend is Bedminster is one tough golf course, you can see why it was awarded the USPGA before Trump became persona non grata with the ruling golf bodies.

Didnt enjoy this one as much as usual, not sure why.
Maybe because the final result was never really in doubt and once the interest in whether Phil could mount a challenge had gone with his quintuple bogey I kind of just zoned out.

Spent more time invested in Tommy winning the St Jude.

5 weeks till the next Liv Event is a long time, wonder if there will be any news/leaks on the merger before then ?

No, they don't. They part own ET Productions, and only relatively recently.

Weakening fields by letting the top players maintain token membership by playing just 4 (four!!!) events (one of the first changes brought in under KP) was of never of any benefit to the European Tour - and don't forget that most will play half their 4 events in the UAE; pushing an 10 additional players across the pond every year is simply an epic act of self-harm.

While you are correct, that's very much the profitable chunk of the ET group. And it's a bit of a puzzle why Jay Monahan is a Director of the PGA European Tour, but not of ET Productions.

A very great good.

It contributed to strangling of LIVs supply of players. And thus to LIVs failure as a competing tour with a future.

PIF recognised this, and so had to change tack and try to buy a chunk of ET and PGAT as a plan B to rescue the situation.

I think you'll find those two tours were going out of business without some pretty swift financial aid in the near future mate, all while LIV have a backer that could ride out a pretty long financial storm if necessary. But don't let the truth stop you posting your tiresome, and repetitive contrary opinions will you... ;-)

While I agree with your first 2 points, I don't think it was PIF that had to change tack - Jay's complete about face being the overwhelming evidence imo. It's quite possible - perhaps likely even - that forcing an agreement, by overwhelming financal dominance, was an option, if not an actual tactic, by MBS in the first place.

If PIF was in such a strong position, they could have just waited it out until the PGAT failed, hoover up the cream players. Why did they not do that ? Instead, they bought into the PGAT effectively, and said : << Jay, you run the PGAT and ET with our money. LIV didnt get off the ground, but have a look and see if you guys can make anything of it. Norman couldnt. But shut it down if you have to, just not straightaway please. >>
LIV tanking was not the PIFs original goal. It was to poach the worlds top golfers, and establish itself as a least a credible competitor to the PGAT. Despite the billions, the top players effectively said no. And thus, plan B.

I think you are deranged if you thinh that MBS will be happy to continue to fund LIV to the same extent in the future! It's simply throwing cash away! Having obtained an agreemeent with PGAT, LIV is largely redundant, so could possibly disappear, especially the way the supervisory part of the agreement is structured.
Personally, I believe the team concept will continue or even expand in some form, with the individual part being absorbed into the overall PGAT structure, such as elevated events. There will be a lot of fence-mending to be done though and possiblt some surprises about how LIV contracts actually worked.

Nothing is structured, that was a request from the PGAT, but it isn't and wasn't agreed to by the PIF - there is no agreement in place, just an agreement to try and come to one..

You think the Saudis will agree to the guy who bailed out with anxiety recently, taking control of a new entity that will run world golf?

Well, they seem more interested in him and the PGAT than what LIV and Norman came up with. LIV was beaten hands down as a pro golf offering. LIV is not PIF. PIF has the bucks alright, but it is cutting is losses by buying into the poorer yes, but ultimately the product that won the PGAT v LIV contest in quick time.
