Even if there are people at the PGA Tour who understand the history of (professional tournament) golf, those running the show have very rarely shown they care much about it.
That may be the case, but I was just expressing my distress at the game I have loved all these years about to be bastardised by people who don't understand it. Others may of course feel differently, and from the diverse views on here, a number of folk clearly do!

It will still be run by golf people, who have been burned with LIV and are now likely to leave the winning formula alone. LIV was the construct of the people who dont understand golf.

In the short term I hope the US Open isnt overshadowed by this merger circus but the press are going to be all over the Liv Golfers for their perspective which we haven't heard yet.

At least we may get an insight into what Yasir has told them about his vision of the future of golf.

Yasir (Money) is the boss, not Greg, JM or Jimmy friggin Dunne (Whoever he is)

Yasir will see the $$ situation of the PGAT,JM has said on record they were running out of money and need the PIF.
if talks breakdown Yasir could walk away and the PGAT would struggle to support designated purses and have just legitimised any sponsor doing business with Liv.

At the same token Yasir could decide to shutdown Liv and put all his $$$ behind the PGAT and to be fair to previous criticism of Liv the PGAT (Pro golf) will be complicit in sport washing for the Saudi regime.

The PIF are in control here merger wise.

Why will the players know anything ? They didn’t have a clue about the merger and I suspect they won’t know a thing about what’s going to happen

And to be clear - Monahan is still in full control of the PGAT , the PIF do not fully fund the PGAT

PIF have a foot in the door , will be a prime sponsor and will also make investments, they will also be a part of the new commercial entity.

I'd imagine plenty of LIV players know quite a lot of what is happening now Phil, they are owners of businesses within that organisation - and will no doubt be working on what the future of LIV looks like in close collaboration with their financiers.

Would say your imagination is wild

The same “owners” of “businesses” that didn’t have a clue about what was happening , they will be told whatever they want to hear from Greg Norman , the same Greg Norman who had zero involvement in what happened as well which tell you what they think of him , the same Greg Norman who for someone normally very vocal has been virtually missing since.

Just basing it on what Bryson said mate - you know - evidence…

I’d imagine by the time we hit the pressers for the US Open, plenty of players will know much more about the future framework.

Again the same Bryson who didn’t have a clue about the merger 🤷‍♂️ all these people didn’t know anything about what was happening and how will they know about the future framework before anyone else when it’s not been sorted yet.

It was clear what was said about LIV - the current season carries on for 2023 and after that players can look to move back into the other tours .

It’s there in black and white - LIV schedule will continue for 2023 as planned and then after it will be evaluated

Also states regards the players that would like to re apply to the tours

The same Bryson who said the families of 9/11 should get over it as it was 20 years ago?

As for Bland. He’s probably just repeating what Greg has told them. Which given he’s not in the loop, isn’t much.

Ok buddy.
Even Rory has already said he'll be playing team golf somewhere in the not too distant future.
All the evidence that we have so far from Al Rumayyan downwards suggests you are gonna be wrong.... We'll see....
You have probably watched more LIV thank anyone else here. LIV as a venture itself failed. Would you agree with that specific point ?

Again I think you need to define failure, well your definition of what failure needs to look like. I think the fact the PGA Tour has allowed Pif to invest mean sit's been a success but that may not be your measure.

I think that's the pertinent point... Without knowing what the goal was how can we ever know if it failed.

It people are expecting a brand new tour to overtake/compete with a 94 year old tour in 12 months... Then I'd suggest that's extremely naive, or maybe it's just a case of looking for cheap points to "win" an argument.

If however the goal was to disrupt and create change and structure... Then it has potentially been a 100% success.

But again, only time will tell with how golf looks in 18 months - 2 years from now.
