Players got payed millions to leave for Liv
Now players want millions for showing loyalty.
Players who went to Liv for pure greed
Players that stayed want millions for loyalty (pure greed).
Whatever happened to wanting to win golf tournaments .
Remember that Mickleson et al ran to the money. Now the money is running
to the remaining PGA tour players.

Can I close this thread yet? 😬
There are actually some very salient point being made on both sides of the argument. Unfortunately for you the protagonists from each side have become amazingly adept at completely ignoring anything remotely relevant to any opposing argument, almost as if it doesn't exist.
All of this means that sometime in the summer of 2024, when it has become completely clear exactly how this merger has panned out, one side will be crowing and the other will still be in denial, and you may still be on overtime, but by then there will only be two protagonists to monitor, surely!!

Aye, who's gonna win the Canadian Bonesaw Cup this weekend anyway? Can't say the leaderboard is blowing me away with stellar names.. :ROFLMAO:

McIlroy , Fleetwood , Conners , Hatton Fitzpatrick , Rose amongst the leaderboard

Yes and no. Thats business and negotiation. You use whatever argument suits your case at the time. Its a tough station to be able to carry it off, as it does go against our normal instinct for honesty and consistency. Is a barrister defending a murderer hypocritical when he knows his client is guilty ? I would say that Monahan himself, or people of his CEO level has no issue with what we see as a u turn. They know thats what you have to do. When Prime Minister Harold Macmillan was asked what was the greatest challenge for a statesman, he replied: 'Events, dear boy, events'. You just have to adapt to the changing circumstances whatever happened before.
If claiming to have principles then disavowing them, lying through your teeth and hanging your close confidantes and supporters out to dry is just “business and negotiation” then he is the poster boy for corporate leaders.
If this is the case then I assume we can expect such behaviour from all businesss leaders and just accept it as the norm? If deceit is the done thing why should we ever believe him or any of his kind ever again?

I much preferred it when Liv was what it is, all about the money and a different product.

But the PGAT stood for history, integrity and the traditions of the sport.

I could watch both and appreciate both for what they represented.

I just feel sad that the PGAT has now lost its integrity by forgetting what makes it great and just going for the MONEY and demonstrating it's an organisation with terrible behaviour and hypocrisy.

In the short term it will lead to more division and greed on the PGAT.

I hope I'm wrong

So three major winners and two current top 10 in an event when many players are taking a rest week

The last LIV event leaderboard

Varner , Grace , Peirera , Munoz , Ogletree , Stenson , Na , Tringale and Oosthuizen

Not exactly stacked

It's all very sad. I love the PGA tour, followed it since the early 1970's, remember so many of the players, both the legends and those who faded into obscurity. If it's taken over by people with no understanding of the history of golf, the game at the professional level will be changed for ever.

I was never a fan of Greg Norman, even in his prime as a player.

In the short term I hope the US Open isnt overshadowed by this merger circus but the press are going to be all over the Liv Golfers for their perspective which we haven't heard yet.

At least we may get an insight into what Yasir has told them about his vision of the future of golf.

Yasir (Money) is the boss, not Greg, JM or Jimmy friggin Dunne (Whoever he is)

Yasir will see the $$ situation of the PGAT,JM has said on record they were running out of money and need the PIF.
if talks breakdown Yasir could walk away and the PGAT would struggle to support designated purses and have just legitimised any sponsor doing business with Liv.

At the same token Yasir could decide to shutdown Liv and put all his $$$ behind the PGAT and to be fair to previous criticism of Liv the PGAT (Pro golf) will be complicit in sport washing for the Saudi regime.

The PIF are in control here merger wise.

Even if there are people at the PGA Tour who understand the history of (professional tournament) golf, those running the show have very rarely shown they care much about it.

Richard Bland did a 45 minute interview with Tom from Flushing it yesterday - no love lost between him and Pelley (and for those worried about the history of the game, you might need to evaluate what he has done to European golf)
Bland backs up the point that a few have made on here - he can't see Yasser canning LIV after all the time and resources he's invested in it.
Feels that Dunne and the PGA are just trying to flex their muscles about the statements made early this week about disbanding LIV - they can't - Yasser is the boss.
He also discussed the RC, players being allowed back on the tours etc.

Worth a watch if you have the time spare.
