So do a lot of people. You aren’t on your own!

Come on James, play the ball…

If Swango wants to question a statement reported, based on the assumption that it’s divisory, then surely we can question why Rory is making the statements that he is?

The article linked is very thorough, and raised some obvious points, like Al-Rumayyan being deeply involved in LIV, his friendship with the players like Bryson. The same Bryson who went on numerous interviews on Tuesday effervescent about LIV’s future, after ‘speaking to some people once he’d heard the news’
Maybe those people were Al Rumayyan himself or his close associates??

Why would Al Rumayyan pull the plug on LIV completely at this stage? He’s stated he wants team golf, to move golf forwards globally, to reach new audiences…. LIV meets lots of those criteria.. you think they’ll bin it off and start something else, or do you think they’ll now utilise the ‘assets’ they have access to see how far they can develop LIV to meet those goals.

People talk about PGAT players having their loyalty rewarded (with Saudi money let’s not forget) but seem happy to think the same Saudis won’t show any loyalty to those players that took a chance with them.

PIF don’t “own” the PGAT

And the DP Tour already plays in those countries - so from the “minority” funding being providing by PIF within the new “commercial” entity they will prob enhance a few events to encourage some of the players to play there - there will also imo prob be some Co sanctioned events in Asia etc
It's not a "minority" anything at all. Al-Rumayyan is the Chairman of the new company that owns the whole commercial rights of the PGAT, DPWT and LIV. Let's see who own the new company when it is set up.

The whole "the PGAT have more seats on the board of the new company" is more sports washing for the short term to make it more palatable for the American public to think that the PGAT is still in charge. The PIF aren't investing billions into this to get a single seat on the PGAT board, they just bought both tours and it's being marketed as a merger.

It probably won't be long before they start to push more into American sports and buy an NBA or NFL franchise.

I wonder if LiV will stay to get over the issue of PIF and the PGAT becoming a monopoly.

PIF may just pull the plug on LiV funding rather than winding it down immediately. It could them be left to Greg to try and make it a commercially viable entity.
I’ll invite you to answer the same questions I’ve just posed to James..

I HATE LIV
So Rory said that...
Don't you think it would be better if someone at LIV didn't call a senior PGA player a bitch..? You know, just to start rebuilding the bridges that have been burned.?
No, they have to come back with a bigger, better slur......
It's playground antics on either side..just because one stoops low it doesn't mean the other side has to stoop lower.
Its time everyone grew up, stopped spouting bollocks and actually try to get this thing going otherwise there will be a war going on for the next 40 years....
Tit for tat insults - no matter who starts them - are not going to help.

Yes I do, Rory should know better to do it with a camera and a microphone in his face, and whoever did it at LIV should know better than to say it when Shipnuck is lurking in the shadows. 👍

There’s some slow learners on here, the Saudis will want to showcase their “assets” globally, they’ll want them playing in SA, Asia, Europe - wherever they can utilise them to meet their business needs.

LIV may well be over as we know it, but if it is, it means the PGAT will be transformed beyond recognition to fit the requirements of its new owners.

Global team golf in some form will very much form part of golfs future.
A couple of problems with this;
1) It ignore the biggest audience - TV. TV viewers like knowing when and where to watch. Look at the NFL - no matter where is the world the game is the kick off time is always the same for you. Golf can do this - you can't have the leaders teeing off at 9pm in Saudi to fit in with the east coast audience in the states. This is why people watch the PGA tour and fewer watch the DP World tour (it has almost not audience in the USA)
2) There is no evidence anywhere that anybody cares about franchise team golf.

Then it's a good just no-one influential on the PGA Tour said this yesterday: "I still hate LIV. I hope it goes away." And called for players on 'his side' to be compensated and players on the 'other side' to be punished. Oh, hang on...
You can throw that argument at McIlroy, though he didn't call anyone a "little bitch". But then, when he says stuff like that, plenty of pro LIV people attack him and his views, and do not take him seriously. Fine, if that's the way they want to play it. However, don't be surprised if anti LIV people make nasty comments. Besides, hating LIV isn't exactly getting personal and insulting, he just said he hated LIV. Is the word "hate" too strong and hurtful a word for you?

I'd also say McIlroy is a bit more influential than some "LIV insider" in the game of golf. So, I still wouldn't be inclined to trust the words of a LIV insider

But you’re just highlighting a massive issue with the PGAT with point 1, it does not suit the European or Asian markets. LIV can , and has a shorter timespan, and is much more compatible with in game betting, something that the Asian market lives.

And there is no evidence that anybody cares about franchise team golf because it is a new concept…

Bear in mind, Rory and Tiger also see some value in team golf, it underpins their TWGR concept.,

No I don’t, but I’m putting forward points to debate about what could happen and why, backed up with statements from people involved in the game. Rather that emotional whimsical comments because I’m upset about the current malaise of pro golf, eh?

What are you talking about. You know McIlroy hates LIV. I know he hates LIV. Everyone, pro or anti LIV knows he hates LIV. He has pretty much been pretty clear on this for a year. Yesterday, he said he hated LIV and you start throwing your toys out of the pram.

Of course, had he not made anything, and been as uncontroversial as he possibly could be then people on both sides would accuse him of backtracking and not being honest. He basically made it clear on where he stands on the situation, including acknowledging he is in the dark about many things. There were no surprises, you just can't stand the fact that he continue to says he hates LIV.

Calm down - I’m definitely not throwing my toys out of the pram.

Ok, what did Rory achieve by saying he hated LIV?

You can’t go questioning one person saying something derogatory about Rory (wrongly imho) but then try and defend Rory saying he hates LIV..

Either people can be critical from both sides, or they can’t..

Is that a question or a statement?
