The Australian PGA is confident its tournament can co-exist in Queensland alongside LIV Golf after the state government revealed expansion discussions with Greg Norman were underway.

On Tuesday the $2 million Australian PGA Championship was locked in for Brisbane's Royal Queensland from November 23-26.

It could soon have company though, with Queensland's Tourism and Sports Minister Sterling Hinchcliffe confirming during that launch he'd been in talks with LIV boss Norman about expanding into his home state.

Hopefully a few LIV players will play in the OZ PGA as well.

Read an article a few days back about how much the event in Adelaide had generated for the local economy, it was clearly a great success. Even in the US where there's a lot of opposition to the league, it looks like it's adding hundreds of millions to local businesses revenue.. (y)

In a roundabout way he said he’s worked hard at going back to how he used to play.
Less power and more control.
He’s lost so much weight
He still looks seriously muscled. I wouldnt have noticed a lightening tbh.
Still a great golfer. I miss the Hogan cap, he should have kept that.

Looks like late starters today are going to be on the wrong side of the draw with 15-20mph winds forecast this afternoon at the USPGA.

I do think there is something in saying a shotgun start is fairer to the whole field.
I also appreciate that can't be done in fields of this size.

Shotgun starts? What is next team events within the competiton? It will never catch on!

Caveating that golf is typically hard to predict 🙂, the reality is the above are less than 12% of the field. Maybe one or two finishing in top 10 perhaps would fit with statistics.
Most I guess would look to Koepka & Smith. Johnson hasn't really hit his form yet this year so be interesting to see how he plays this weekend. Reed has a habit of showing up.
I'd like to see Gooch do enough to secure US Open spot - why they didn't just change rules for 2024 came across as so petty.
Niemann could do with a showing, and DeChambeau was box office 18 months ago - even if he has a charge then a trademark collapse 😄
Kim will likely be trying to avoid last place with the run he's been on!
Thought I'd quote myself 🙂, looks like Sihwan Kim has made the cut! Wonder what odds could have been found for that prior?

Of course they'll be some surprises missing it also (of the 16)

His form has improved recently on LIV - obviously he’s a decent golfer to be where he is, it does make you wonder if he’s been playing through an injury or issue?

Or maybe he’s just got a purple patch… Either way, great for him.

5 Liv Golfers T19 or better.

Was surprised by DJs drop off yesterday.
Bryson has showed up so far pretty much from nowhere.
Brooks looks his menacing self again 3 shots back.
Varner III and Perrira with solid showings so far.

9 Liv Golfers made the cut.

Anybody who beats Scottie Scheffler will probably win it for me.

Thought it was 11.
Bryson and Brooks, then Dustin Johnson ,Mito Pereira , Harold Varner III , Sihwan Kim , Patrick Reed , Cameron Smith , Dean Burmester, Thomas Pieters and Mickelson.

With their past history you would normally say Bryson and Brooks playing together would not be a good thing.

But now with them representing the Liv tour and with the reception they both got on the 1st tee from the rowdy New Yorkers I think it could galvanise both of them.

Oh Brandel..
Can't get his head around that a Liv Golfer just won a major and says only PGAT players should play in the Ryder Cup.
Brad Faxon rightfully puts him right on this fact and for once he is lost for words.

Just watched that myself. Chamblee is a muppet - nice to see somebody expose him live on air, where he can't block out anybody that is challenging his views.

Will the catty comments about not playing enough tournaments, only 3 rounds etc to be sharp for majors now stop. Between here and the Masters I think the myth has been debunked, humble pie is being served and people can go back to playing and watching whichever tour they want.

The above is an absolute pipedream of course but hey ho 🤷‍♂️😄

If there was one person from LIV who was going to do well in Majors it’s Koepka

Before his injury issues he was the Majors player, it didn’t matter how well he was doing the week before - during 2018 and 2019 he turned up for the majors , he even stated as much in that Netflix , the others events just helped him warm as a practice and he prob would have won a few more if it wasn’t for the knee injury, he used to have a very minimal schedule.

It seemed clear that he was worried about competing at the majors again because of that knee injury and it’s the reason why he went to LIV , I suspect if he wasn’t tied down and it didn’t cost millions he would be the first to leave LIV.

Great win for Koepka. Interesting to track the PGA Tour website and how it seemed to do all it could to avoid mentioning LIV players. In the end the Michael Block novelty story took precedence over Koepka's win. What a sad and bitter bunch they appear to be.
I suspect you are reading too much into that, to generate your own story?

I open the PGAT App and the first thing I see is a full screen with Koepka on it and the headline he won. The story is also on their Facebook page.

Of course, the story of Michael Block was huge, so clearly going to appear. Everyone loves an underdog. And there will also be stories about other PGAT players, as would be expected on a PGAT website

Irrespective of opinions about pro golf (whether Liv / PGA) I think a lots of absolute bilge has been spoken by a lot of people about some of the players who’ve left….

A 53(?) year old Phil came second at the Masters, playing an incredible final round..Whilst in the same tournament Tiger (due to his self-inflicted injury caused by extremely reckless and dangerous driving), Rory, JT, Homa, were nowhere…

Now Brooks has won the next Major

Agree that people really need to wind it in

Maybe you weren’t looking properly

They had Koepka winning as their main story when it happened
