Well at least there is one list Liv Golfers are heading in the right direction.

If you do a top 10 list of 2023 top money winners at the end of the year for all golfers how many Liv Golfers would be in the top 10.?

Remember PGAT players play way more tournaments.

Well it’s the one thing that’s undeniable is that it has made some very rich golfers even richer

Not sure its something that is there to be celebrated as a positive

We all know that LIV are paying more for players to play and also prize money is bigger

No sharing of the TV ratings from the LiV PR team?

I wonder if that has anything to do with some of the articles doing the rounds this morning 🤷🏼‍♂️

It will be interesting to see how they spin this one.

🤷‍♂️

TY!

Long read that - I am not going to sit and defend LIV for not sharing the data, its a weird one to me - they should have great insight into their app usage too. If it was great I'm sure they'd shout loudly about it!

All I will say is, every event seems to be getting more fans through the door this season. So fans are there and interested but maybe not quite as many as they'd have hoped watching at home. I'm a LIV fan, enjoy watching but I dip in and out of the app over the 3 days.

There's one mega positive of LIV to me as a "golf fan"- you know which players you are buying a ticket to watch. Me and my friends have discussed the British Masters and the Open this year, and actually with Sunday tickets you don't know who you're going to see to an extent. Obviously plenty of massive names will be at the open in general, but I don't know if Rory will be there on Sunday until end of play Friday.

With LIV, I know I'll see every star name on the books. Which I think explains better crowds.

Crowds don't bring in the money like TV though, football shows you that, they need to get on mainstream sports channels to stand a chance in the long term and we all know it!

That will always be the case Imo and it’s the key to the tour being viable long term

Without any meaningful media deal then it’s going to sink

And with the crowds there are prob a good number of freebies in there and people going to the event for a bit of a party etc

But most golf events have varying degrees of crowds - as you say unless its 100k each day like a major or Ryder cup then it’s not going to make much difference

They haven't given free general admission tickets this year, please drop that narrative!

I do agree, they need some positive data. I'm stunned the Aus event data hasn't been shared, that must be their best data set so far!

There were 2 million viewers in Australia alone.
Time difference will have affected viewership in Europe and the States I’d imagine. Still an impressive number.

LIV just need to find the locations that suit their product - but there has been a significant step up from last year already.

Do you have a source for that Mel?

It was something that a few Australian LIV fans were reporting through a Facebook group at the time. They did post screenshots of the stats at the time that backed it up.

LIV themselves reported 55 million video views across social media (which I’m guessing is additional/separate to anything shown through a cable network).

A Liv UK TV Deal is so badly needed for them and still no sign of one what so ever.

If they got it on free to air TV I think more would tune in too watch for sure than having to watch on an app which is pretty rubbish.

It would probably be the first evidence of the "growing the game" they harp on about so

Appreciate it is your opinion and some others will share it - personally I'll generally watch more major golf and other tour golf on my tablet than I will on one of the TVs. So it isn't a one size fits all thing.

Any “official” sources as opposed to a random bot on Twitter

It was on Facebook, as I said earlier. 👍

Multiple comments in that post from the ‘locals’ seemed to confirm the number.
LIV are claiming 55 million video views across streaming platforms for the event…
I haven’t seen anything official, but then I haven’t seen anything official from any other tour saying their viewing numbers are down, but we know they are..

The Australian PGA is confident its tournament can co-exist in Queensland alongside LIV Golf after the state government revealed expansion discussions with Greg Norman were underway.

On Tuesday the $2 million Australian PGA Championship was locked in for Brisbane's Royal Queensland from November 23-26.

It could soon have company though, with Queensland's Tourism and Sports Minister Sterling Hinchcliffe confirming during that launch he'd been in talks with LIV boss Norman about expanding into his home state.

Hopefully a few LIV players will play in the OZ PGA as well.
