Probably just bored with it and understands it will be folded by 2026. Hard to wind up someone about a rival tour with GUR fairway events in Tulsa.

Given we’ve got a major starting tomorrow with a controversial internal oob, I don’t think raising questions about the integrity of a course is particularly appropriate at this point in time. ;-)

What is controversial about it and how is it any way comparable to a course being in poor condition 🤷‍♂️

But surely if it’s sports washing as has been accused many times on this thread, the cost doesn’t matter?

a point massively overlooked all the time.. if it really is sportswashing cost doesnt matter

this is from a country where oil just falls out the ground and they can make billions selling it

they care not what the cost is.

At some point money has to come in

It’s not like other Middle East ventures in sport where money was already coming in - boxing , F1 , Man City , PSG , Newcastle etc - those ventures have millions coming in each year with media deals and sponsorship etc

LIV is fully funded at huge costs , and that’s not going to go on forever , they are paying the golfers a lot of money , way beyond what other areas do

They aren’t going to paying billions every year

It’s how it should be imo, concentrate on your own game and what affects you rather than making noises to try to wind people up. Yes Rory I’m looking at you 👀
Rory played a practice round with Koepka at Augusta, and does so with other players out of competition time

Does it though?
For me the article is just PGA anti LIV propaganda, the same as some of the pro LIV stuff posted on here.

Yes it does have to - Saudi are going to just spend billions each year ,

They aren’t going to fund a golf tour that can’t get any media deals or sponsors or major golfers. It then just becomes a vanity project for GN and will just make a handful of golfers very rich.

That doesn’t make any mark on the sport - it was something different last year but it will fizzle out if it just relies on handouts from Saudi each year.

So the sports washing accusations are false then.

Why would they be false ?

Sportswashing is a term used to describe the practice of individuals, groups, corporations, or governments using sports to improve reputationstarnished by wrongdoing. A form of propaganda, sportswashing can be accomplished through hosting sporting events, purchasing, or sponsoring sporting teams, or participating in a sport.

Does that not fit Liv and Saudi ?

I’d also add to that description, profit is of no significance.

but no country is going to pay out indefinitely, I think Sportswashing is quite obviously what it is, as they couldn't reasonably expect a return on their money in short or even medium term.

But just because it is sportwashing doesn't mean they will keep paying out for it. Companies don't keep paying out for certain advertising campaigns when it is obviously not working
