What happened to equipment manufacturers sponsoring teams?

Even PXG don’t want anything to do with LiV

And yet they don't have any issue with having Gary Player as an ambassador for them who also happens to be an ambassador for Golf Saudi.
Now where's that irony meter I posted earlier...

Publicity stunt from Parsons, and I suspect the golfers are pretty happy to be free agents to use whatever clubs they like right now - indeed Pat Perez looked to be doing just fine last weekend with whatever clubs he now has in the bag.

He can still use PXG's, he just is paid to use them.

Lets get back to the golf.

Phil Mickleson is getting back to his best #justsaying

No truer example of class is permanent , form is temporary.

That weather delay scuppered my little window to watch the golf this morning, so looking forwards to taking in rounds 2 and 3 over the weekend. Phil is definitely coming back to some form - he's obviously leaner and is sharpening his game up nicely.
Bryson up there as well. (y)

Yeah he can, and if was using PXG's, what a shame Bob Parsons has binned him off - he got a fair bit of coverage last week.
As we're talking about PXG & Parsons right now, I doubt that he is struggling for press.

One interview with Parsons I read he had been quite clever really. He framed it as a matter of patriotism. MBS had a US journalist hacked to pieces, so how can you support a league backed by him.
Patriotism is a big issue in the good O'l US of A, so makes his company look good, and LIV look bad.

That’s pretty much what he alludes to - war veteran and doesn’t want to be associated with Saudi

Golf Journalist who featured in Netflix Full Swing with is (changed) take on Liv Golfers OWGR situation.
Hard to say this doesn't make sense.

Maybe golf should be looking at a different ranking system like Data Golf who is doing a much better job of ranking all the worlds golfers right now ?

Why would “golf” look at something at data when all the majors and golf tours and governing bodies run the OWGR ?

The majors contribute about £60 grand a year each to maintain the OWGR - which doesn't have any employees fwiw. Pin money.
The OWGR no longer works in its present form - we know that as multiple players finished way higher at The Masters than their OWGR would suggest they could. Too many to be a mere coincidence, and of course, we all know the rankings of the LIV players aren't representative - Taylor Gooch is playing better golf now than he was when he joined LIV and he's fallen around 30 places I believe.
Ultimately, each of the majors are a commercial operation, they need money, and that money is reliant on interest, and if you remove a massive slice of interest from anything, less people will watch.
The Masters had record viewing figures on Sunday didn't it? The proof as they say, is in the pudding.
There will be a system utilised in the near future that evaluates LIV golfers to accurately rank them, whether that's a revised OWGR or not, we'll just have to wait and see.

All the big players from LIV will play in majors due to exemptions- there is no one that will create “interest” missing from the majors. The Masters wasn’t missing anyone of note and it will be the same for the remaining majors

And then when they play in the majors and if they are good enough they will play well enough to continue with the exemptions.

So why are we discussing Taylor Gooch not being eligible for the US Open then, despite clearly being one of the top players in the world right now? Datagolf ranks him the 34th best player in the world, well inside the number that is needed for US Open qual.
OWGR is defunct, unless of course you want to manipulate who plays in certain competitions based on where they play golf, rather than their ability.
