So it’s the first event today - what was the media deal to watch the events in the uk etc ?

I also see that for the events outside the US they are not showing them Live on CW ? It’s going to be taped then shown during the day ?

Does the CW network normally just show repeats of stuff? If so, this seems to fit in well with what they stand for. Watch LIV on youTube, and watch the repeat on CW

First 2023 event is tomorrow
Outside of US is via the liv golf plus app
CW I believe is showing all events live in the app (for US market), and same tv slot irrespective of where played (so delayed if played non US)

Is this because it's like the world cup? Made enough noise about not wanting to watch that due to blood money then straight in the action

Same with spieth and JT

Much more respectful comments than others we heard in the past.

For me there is space for both

I was interested in Liv watched 2 events and realised why live golf doesn't capture me much outside majors

Majors. Players and if tigers playing these days

But I do like the idea that I can dip in and out of it and it's a nice simple viewable format

Much like full swing , it's interesting because it's short sharp action

are you unable to dip in and out of a PGAT event and aren't all events a nice simple viewable format?

Didn't say you couldn't. Just another event that you can dip in and out of

Don't see how there isn't space for it tbh

Liv is easier to catch up on as the entire thing is under 5 hours aswell

I don't know many people who watch the entire coverage when trying to catch up? If they do, I can't imagine they'd be saying "happy days, when catching up on LIV I only need to sit through a quick 5 hour sitting" :)

I suspect a lot of people see one reason for LIV being a lesser product is the fact that there is less coverage. They are losing a full day for starters, and then restricting the other days to a 5 hour window. Not saying the golf within that window would be rubbish, just that there is that extra limit in viewing time to fans.

Agree, it is another event you can dip in and out of, but not sure how many golf fans have the attention span to focus on multiple golf tours each weekend? It isn't football, it is a long sport. If we started adding in even more tours, to attract a few great players here and there to some of them, we could have 5 or 6 tours and a lot more golf to dip in and out of. But, I'd struggle to see that as a good thing. Personally, I'd like to see all the best players on one tour, increasing the probability you'd have great players at most events throughout the year, and some events with all / most of them. Tour rankings (e.g. FedEx ranking) is a decent way to track their progress against each other through the season, and give yourself some sort of end of season finale.

We could have had the best on one tour had the pga not decided to ban players for wanting to play Liv

Nothing wrong with playing both, apart from the majors and the players you don't get the best players on one event

They mix the fields by having rahm one week, spieth the next and so on around when they want to play (edit , this weekends honda event not a single top 10 player)

The majors won't change and there is space for players to play both

Still think the European tour could win on this by not banning them and getting Liv players playing there for ranking points

Given that the LIV players are committed to 14 LIV events (will that grow in the future), I very much doubt they would have played as often on the other tours they had been part of. Outside the Majors, sure there may be a handful of other events they'd like to turn up for. But, assuming they play the same number of weekends a year (i.e. assuming that none of the LIV players genuinely want less golf, more time to do other things), then that is 14 fewer PGA events each they'll be part of on the PGAT, or whatever other tour they were part of before LIV.

Which would have meant nearly all of them forfeiting their membership for not playing the minimum number (20) of tournaments in an case, regardless of their application for release being refused

Are You Tube not even showing it now ?

Looking at the first event compared to this upcoming event it’s tough to see where they have progressed - adding Cam Smith is prob the one big key thing they didn’t after the initial bunch arrived

Just had a look at the “merchandise” they are selling and it just seems to be hats ?

I would have thought they would be pushing the team shirts and apparel etc

It's only their second year remember. Takes years before they can get to the point of having t-shirts printed :)

Have you not read all of this thread? They're all past it, bunch of old hacks who will never win a major again
Point me to the post where anybody said that all the LIV players were a bunch of hacks and will never win a major tournament. Clearly there are five players of the forty-eight capable of winning a major tournament.:)

5?

Smith
Brooks
Bryson
Sergio
Gmac
Phil
DJ
Kaymer
Oozhiesen (sp)

I'm sure there is another but that's more than 5 major winners in the field

I'll take a punt you meant to post "win in the future"
Are you prepared to name the 5?

Does the below fit your ask?
DJ wasn’t one of the 10 best golfers in the world when he retired to play exhibition golf.

That doesn’t mean they are capable of winning one again

Kaymer hasn’t won a tournament since 2014

McDowell since 2015 and think his exemptions have now run out

Oosthuizen since 2016 I think

So it’s prob Smith , Koepka , DJ and BDC are the only ones you would realistically say can win a major again

No idea Phil.
Think I read somewhere that someone asked support and they replied it would be on YT again, but maybe they didn't want to talk about the new website and app at that point. Guess all will become clear tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised to see it appear on YT (maybe geo restricted), although personally I preferred the website to YT last year.
