You know the emergence of Liv Golf has put the sport on the front pages as well as the back pages when pretty much the biggest podcast on the planet are talking about it.

The Netflix doc is going to be a must watch..

Entertaining watch that, thanks for posting. Kind of backs up the debate on here where fans of traditional golf aren't happy about LIV, whereas those wanting to see the game move on with the times have enjoyed or even embraced it.

Quite the straw man argument there, aiming to portray those who are not impressed with LIV as fans of 'traditional' golf - whatever that it. Its simply, golf. And in some way old fashioned and not moving with 'the times', whatever they are. What in 'the times' brings us to a closed limited field of generally past it players playing an its-a-knock-out type team competition ?

Change can equally be a backward step and not an onwards one. The dominant view (leaving aside completely the Saudi, sportswashing, etc, elements, which does bother some, is exploited by others, but party is squeaky clean on that element), is that it is a backward step, and was simply change for change's sake in an effort to create some differentiation with the established tour formats, and, a backward step. On the whole, golf fans, media channels (usually scrambling over each other to sign sports rights), and corporate advertising (equally hungry to jump on anything they consider the next band wagon), have give a resounding, no thank you Saudi. And generally on the basis that the proposition is not progress or moving pro golf on in a positively entertaining way, but that it is a flawed gimmick. A solution in search of a problem.

Well the guys in the pod share my views buddy, and they’re hitting a much bigger audience than you are on here.

Maybe you should get in the comments and tell them how wrong they are. ;-)

If ‘those wanting to see the game move on with the times’ are racist, conspiracy theorist, right wing bigots like Joe Rogan then I’ll stick with the team traditional golf thanks ??

Just because Joe Rogan shares your views and has a large audience doesnt necessarily mean that he is representative of the popular opinion though.

He has had some frankly idiotic opinions and debates over the years.

But he undoubtedly ‘moves the needle’ in the podcast world
If there was a PIP for podcasts, then he’d be cleaning up..

The "people that watch LIV are racists" card, ran out of validity a looooong time ago mate.

Who is Joe Rogan ?‍♂️ - what’s his involvement in golf

Anyone know the schedule for LIV ? Didn’t someone say it would be announced Friday

I said I thought it would be announced yesterday, obviously as it wasn't, the whole series is about to collapse.

Or maybe they don't want to distract from the Seve Trophy while that's taking place. ;-)

I dont think it will collapse that quickly either. With the investment made, they will more likely keep it running for a couple of years. But the lack of renewal, and the already old timers of Westwood and Mickelson ilk being increasingly competitively irrelevant, will bring its lack of sporting relevance beyond what even Norman and the Saudis claim can with a straight face is a viable serious golf tour. The Smith case will be a chastening deterrent to any other potential defectors from the PGAT. It will take a couple of years also, but I would also see a backtracking from the PGAT, and some negotiated return of the prodigals to the fold once LIV shuts shop entirely.

I only asked if the schedule was announced yesterday as it was claimed ?‍♂️

Why do you think they haven’t announced their schedule yet ? Struggling for venues ? Players ?

Seems a bit strange not to have your schedule tied down for the year

Maybe they're just saving up a lot of information so they can release it all in the build up to the season, new players, venues etc.

Agree the radio silence on signings and events is odd, especially when they said at the end of their 2022 season that everything would be announced before the end of the year.

Also quite a few key employees have left.

Not at all controversial to think all may not be well in the Liv Golf world.

You would think they have to announce everything before the end of January ??

It's my understanding that they have been trying to finalise the schedule, and where Jeddah sits in it - it looks like the Team Final may go to Saudi, rather than Doral, which would explain the delay in finalising all the other dates.

Is it not unusual that such a high profile sporting calendar, with professional sportsmen, hasn't been finalised over a year in advance? Seems weird that the 2023 schedule has not been publicised, and we are in 2023? Especially when they are desperate to increase the family base. I thought they'd have a schedule ages ago, and spending the entire off season trying to market it, really try and build up anticipation for the 1st event of season (is that in February?)
