Comp win or Handicap Cut?

Both go a bit hand in hand at my level (18), or at least if you're second then the big bonus is a cut. To be honest, at the end of the season it's how my handicap has faired as to whether it's been a success or not. Wanting to win comps over cuts in handicap suggests bandito to me.

The main reason I'll be playing in comps is to improve my handicap. I'm not sure I want to win one anyway as I don't want the bandit title.

I'll take a cut every time. And if its not a cut I try for the buffer zone. And if its not the buffer zone I'm in the duffer zone.

Handicap cut every time, though to be fair it's so long since I won anything I can't remember what it feels like!

Have just found out I've got my first handicap cut for ages though following a recent comp - 2-under CSS off 5.8 has got me back down to the Holy Grail of category 1 status... and with no more comps planned this year, that means I can bore my GM colleagues rigid all winter as an enlightened, all-seeing, all-knowing category 1 golfer.

:D Well done Jezz, how is the lowest man at GM towers?

For me it would have to be a cut as my main aim is to get as low as I can, but placing or winning is a bonus for sure.

Depends. If its an honours board event I'd take a win everytime even if that meant level was enough to win (unlikely I know). Other than that I'm happy to get cut and usually at my club anything under par especially in a medal is pretty close to top 3 or 4 in the division anyway and so would have a chance of a few quid in vouchers to sweeten it further.

Surely we all want to be as low as we can get don't we? As others have said, play well and a cut and win or certainly a placement usually go pretty much hand in hand

There are 3 or 4 of us around the same mark, Chris, and I actually don't know what their 'exacts' are - lost interest when I went up to Cat 2!

But will endeavour to find out when I'm next in so I can work out if I have regained ultimate office bragging rights or not!
