Ours is done over 36 holes in one day, cat 1 players have preference for the the early tee times then the best 8 gross scores then play matchplay over 3 nights to find the club champ.

One day, 36 holes strokeplay, maximum handicap 14, out in handicap order, highest first.
It's a tough day but enjoyable and two qualifiers in one day, though I've missed the last couple of years and will miss this year's too due to holidays.
