We've all heard of Reebok though. That random one must be paying a fair amount to get Shiels' business. Bit of a gamble really - I wonder if Lyle & Scott's sales went up from Rick wearing their stuff. I always thought their stuff they had him wearing was very dull. On Golf Life they're sponsored by Puma and their gear has a lot nicer designs.

Not many heard of Travis Matthew or Paytner when Rahm got his deal with them.
Loads of manufacturers are looking to get into the market and sponsorship with golfers is a step but not sure it gets people buying the stuff much
All these company’s need to do is get into a top golf club - put their logo on and they fly off the shelf
That’s how the likes of Peter Millar and Kjus are now very popular- going into the big clubs

Tbh, I’ll always buy Lyle and Scott stuff, it’s quality gear and a brand strongly associated with golf - plus theres a tonne of it cheapo at County Golf.
Suspect Redvanly see their demographic as the younger agr groups, they already have a deal with Smash GC so Ricks arrangement is possibly an extension of the companies investment in the LIV product.

Ok, in the latest video for the English PGA qualifier he was in the lead after 17, then he sprayed it and just got through to the final. I think that’s the one PJ87 is volunteering at next week.

Golf digest series on improving approach and wedge play/ distance and distribution.
Think I will have a look at the low apex shot. I use a 3/4,1/2 system and calculate the club distances .. but I haven’t considered low spinners. Rumour has it the low spinner is just a bit further back in the stance and is less risky.. just hope the spin kicks in before the green runs out

If you are hitting 1/2 or 3/4 shots you are already having less spin and lower peak height compared to full shots - not sure there is much more to it.
All this talk on TV about how some pro is hitting a shot “taking the spin off” used to puzzled me until I realised all they actually do is hitting a partial shot and some times taking more club.

Most people I talk to haven’t liked the first one. The second is much the same.
What I can say is the production quality of the LIV stuff is a mile away from each of their own channels, which has to be expected.
Golf Life had the opportunity to be on a 3m subscriber channel and took it. I hope it does them well.
Interestingly, it’s mentioned the match was in February.
