Was reading an article in today's golfer about professionals worst holes which got me thinking about mine. It was probably last week in our monthly junior comp. Easiest par 3 on the course, with only 150 to hole. 7 iron to the green side bunker. Took 3 to get out to other bunker, which took me another 2. Was on the fring of the green and thinned it onto the other side. Then chipped out and two putted for a 10!
Was awful, hit no good shots in that hole.
Any holes you've played worse than that ?

can match a 10 first medal at new club having joined after a sabbatical, handicap 10, drive a touch right get down to where i think it is no sign! back to the tee for 3 and duff 10 yards with clubs 150 yards down the fairway and r11 in hand rather annoyed decide to leather off the deck yes you guess it another 10yards! so go get 9 iron and hack down the fairway couple of times and the round is doom and glomm before it started!

Probably 13 on a par 4 over water - the most memorable thing being that the best score from the 3 of us on that hole was 11 (from a 12 HC) - a LOT of bad language was used!!

My worst hole was the only time I've yet had a chance to break 80. I needed a par for the 18th, par 3 at Swanston. Hit my tee shot fat and ended up about 30yds short of the green. Thinned my chip across the other side of the green. Then i woosed out on the put back across the green and only got it half of the 30 odd yds to the hole. took another 3 putts from there to finish with a 6. Not a massive score, but cost me a huge milestone on a hole that par is quite normal.

A 12 and two 10s all on the same hole at my club. a short par four hitting the very tight fairway is a must or you're in a jungle, most definately un playable

Then a high lob over trees onto an island green. Just a short 290 par four, but nearly every member has at least one horror story about it

I played in a scratch comp a while back. On the 4th I hit an iron straight down the middle. Never saw the ball again! Had to walk back to the tee and the group behind were just arriving and decided to quiz me on why I didnt hit a prov. It went straight down the middle was my response.
In the afternoon round off of the same tee I hit it right so hit a prov. Found the first one unplayable. Same trudge back to the tee, same group arriving on the tee, same question asked. I did reload but found the first one unplayable was my response.

I was ready to use my 5 iron for a different purpose by then!

Worst hole....

When i first joined a club about 15 years ago,in one of the first medals i played one hole sticks out

Our 6th is a par 5 pretty straight forward no danger untill about 100 yds out then oob right with a bunker left of the green, i was in the bunker in 4, not bad for a 24 h/c as i was then, i didn't get the ball out with my 1st go or my 2nd or 3rd,4th,5th etc etc. When the ball eventually came out i one putted for a 16! I can feel myself going red now just remebering:). Went up .1 that day :D

My worst hole ever would have been the day of Princess Di's funeral.
Only me and another guy played the Medal that day - everyone else was watching it.....

On the 11th - about 300 yards dogleg right with OB right - I hit a decent drive to the corner. I then s*****d 5 in a row OB. I picked up there and then. Assuming I'd got the next on the green and 2 putted I'd have scored - what? - 14..? Can't count that far without taking my shoes and socks off....

I hit 4 balls OB on the 2nd hole at Millport one day in a medal, swiftly followed by a retreat to the clubhouse!

About 10 yrs back I was 5 off the tee and finished with a 9. I was going through a terrible bout of the hooks. It was an expensive summer.

In one of my first competitions after joining my current club I had a 10 on a par 4.

Hooked drive, chip out, thin into water hazard, penalty drop, onto green and 5 putts including an air shot from 2"!

Can't really pin point one hole over my entire golfing career as my memory is bloody awful......probably a good thing. I did however have a mare on the par 5 7th this Sunday. Hit a nice tee shot with a little bit of fade which took it nicely around the dog leg, hit a 6 iron up the middle of the fairway to give my about 95 yards to the pin. Hit a nice GW but left it just off the front of the green which wasn't too bad because the pin was at the front anyway.

All I had to do was a delicate chip and putt for a net bird. Instead I thinned my chip sending it 15-20 feet past the hole, then 3 putted and ended with a 7. After the chip and the first putt I was pretty much back in the same spot where I played my 4th.

I then proceeded to the 8th tee, absolutely fuming, shanked the heck out of my first tee shot then hooked my 2nd tee shot.

I won't tell you what happened on the 13th.....let's just say it was a round to forget.

Folowing on from Swanny32's post above......................

Ahh our 7th, my favourite hole.....................NOT!!

Before Sunday the 2 previous rounds i had 5 off the tee on the aforementioned 7th. Ended up with a 10 in the medal, nearly killed me!!

However, more recently must be the 17th on Sunday. Hit a lovely drive straight down the middle, 2nd shot left a hybrid to the green, sliced slightly but safe, 3rd shot I proceeded to shank to the base of a tree so decided to take a drop, 5th shot had to chip out of the crap, 6th shot a simple half wedge onto the green.... no, caught it fat so onto the 7th shot and duffed the chip and run to leave myself about 15-20ft from the pin. Unsure of how many shots I had taken and whether a point was salvageable I took on the putt, and was the best putt I made all day..straight in the middle of the cup. However after counting up my shots, worked out the putt was to no avail and headed off with a blob.

However did finish off with a par on the par 5 18th and 38 points for the round with 3 blobs so not all bad.

I started my one and only 36 hole competition at our club on the par 4 10th hole, which usually plays the most difficult on the course. Holed a really nice 15 foot downhill left to right breaker for a 9.:( I knew it was going to be a long day. Stangely it must have relaxed me, as I managed to get my first handicap cut at the club. In the afternoon my playing partner had a 13 on the same hole, and also got cut.

My second handicap cut was for a round which again included a 9 on a par 4, but I blame my playing partner for that, as he insisted on looking for and finding my ball in the deepest jungle. My provisional ball was nicely on the green with a putt for a 5.
